2-5 [1856-1857 Oscars] The set of the four 1924 OFFICIAL REPRINTS of the Oscars. Mint VF with partial/disturbed gum still present as a result of extremely careful removal from their page in the 1924 handbook (examples with full, undisturbed gum should not exist in private hands). These 1924 reprints have color shades different from the scarcer 1914 reprints; these 1924 colors are: Dull Yellowish Orange (instead of Dark/Bright Orange); Dark Silvery Gray (instead of Greenish Light Gray); Blackish Blue (instead of slightly greenish Dark Blue); Dark Brownish Red (instead of Light Brownish Red). I have only had three or four sets of these in 40 years and this must be the nicest looking set that I have had, and probably the only one with any gum remaining.

1, 2-5, 15 [1855 Number One, 1856-57 Oscars, 1867 8 Skill 8 Coat of Arms] The COMPLETE SET of six 1924 OFFICIAL REPRINTS. Mint VF still affixed to the original 1924 Handbook page, as they were all issued. These 1924 reprints have color shades different from the even scarcer 1914 reprints. The 1924 #1 is Deep Blackish Blue (instead of Dark Greenish Blue). The 1924 Oscar colors are: Dull Yellowish Orange (instead of Dark/Bright Orange); Dark Silvery Gray (instead of Greenish Light Gray); Blackish Blue (instead of slightly greenish Dark Blue); Dark Brownish Red (instead of Light Brownish Red). The 1924 #15 is slightly orangish Red (instead of Carmine). In total, I have only had four or five complete sets of these (not all members of the sets at the same time) in 41 years. This is certainly among the nicest looking that I have had.

Norwegian Handbook 1855-1924: (1924, Anderssen and Dethloff; Norges Frimerker 1855-1924) Covers the development of the early stamps and proceeds from #1 through 1924 issues, including some early postmark information. Includes varieties, types, some postal rates, etc. For its day it was the definitive reference, however now it is mostly valued for the scarce 1924 reprints -- only 1000 books and thus 1000 sets of the reprints were issued. Published with an inexpensive soft cover which is virtually always damaged. This cover looks nice on the front and back, but has spine damage and the cover is separated from the spine (as usual). The pages are in excellent gently used condition. The set of reprints, and the page they are on, are excellent. Priced at only the selling price of the reprint set! Shipping cost is additional for this item.

Norwegian Handbook, Volume I (WITH 1963 reprints): (1963, Norsk Filatelistforbund; Håndbok over Norges Frimerker 1855-1955: Del I 1855-1888) Starting with stamp production, proceeds from #1 through the 21mm issues. For its day it was the definitive reference on printings, varieties, plating, and all forms of specialization. Still quite useful and sought after. Norwegian text, but includes English word list. A very important reference work. Very gently used, this example is priced at about the value of the 1963 (actually 1962, but all the catalogs call them 1963) reprints it contains: Scott #1, 2-5, 15. (#18035) [The website illustrations shows a generic page of reprints; this item has serial #3287.] Shipping cost is additional for this item.
