Volume Two, 1920-1939 (the first volume to be published) was released in June, 2004. With 372 pages and hundreds of illustrations, this volume represents the most important work ever published on the subject of Danish essays; and this is just the first of four volumes.
This book is entirely in English and entirely in Danish. Every recorded essay in the 1920-39 time period is discussed, illustrated, and cataloged. Each essay is assigned a rarity factor; value ranges are given for the rarity factors.
Essays are the proposed designs for stamp issues, some of which are accepted, but most of which are rejected. As such, essays are the important first "chapter" in the history of a stamp issue. Essays belong in all types of stamp collections, whether "traditional" or thematic. They can be used to "dress up" a collection of to tell the story of a stamp issue in a serious specialized collection.

| Future Volumes of the Handbook of Danish Essays. |

| It was more by chance than design that Volume Two is the first to be issued. The current plan is to issue Volume Three next, with either One or Four following that. It is too early to predict a publication date for Volume Three, however, it is unlikely to be before the end of 2005. |
