Scott #1 Proof for 1930 Official Reprint, in black on thin, ungummed, unwatermarked paper. AFA 2002 Specialized lists #N1d without an issued date; they may be referring to this item. My notes indicate that prior to the printing of the 1930 reprints, a single proof sheet was printed in black to check the suitability of the printing plate. Before the sheet was finally divided in 1973, the position numbers of each stamp were pencilled on the reverse. This example is position 65. This is the only example of this proof/reprint that I have had in 33 years. Extremely scarce.
