Denmark: Locals: Aalborg
Danish local post stamps are best cataloged by (and is the primary numbering I use in these listings) Christensen and Ringström (1974) which is in stock. The Daka Local Post Catalog (1996) is also sometimes used with numbers in [brackets]. The Daka catalog is also in stock. While the pricing is now obsolete in both books, they are both still very useful for understanding relative values.

Condition standards for locals are not the same as for regular stamps. In certain issues minor defects are the norm. Defects that affect the value or appearance of the stamps will be mentioned. As always, all items are guaranteed, as is your satisfaction.

I have an extensive stock, including parts of the Ringstrom collection and stock, of mint and used locals, available via approvals. Tell me about your interests.
Mint examples of most Aalborg Viborg locals are usually found without gum. Examples with gum are usually much scarcer and sell for higher prices.

Aalborg Postmarks: There were only two basic types of cancellations used at Aalborg: Type 1: 21 mm circle with two extremely closely spaced outer rings; the text inside of the rings is circular; at top "Aalborg" and at bottom "By- og Pakkepost". In the center is a large rosette; at the sides are very small rosettes. Known, in order of increasing scarcity, in violet, blue, and black. Type 2: 26 mm circle in the form of a belt, with a descender hanging from it (very seldom actually on the stamp); sometimes called a "suspender" cancellation. Double circle cancel with text between the circles: at top "Aalborg Bypost", bottom color-filled. In the center "C.I.A." (though seldom readable). Known, in order of increasing scarcity, in violet, blue, and black. CR states that stamps CR #3-4 (only) are known with both types of cancellations having numerals 1-5 in the center; and that they were "used in error and are rarities".

Aalborg CR #1 Bright Blue, Daka #1B [1884 3 øre blue on yellowish paper, Numeral] Mint, original gum, moderately hinged, with huge margins and VF+ centering. One shorter perforation tooth, but the perforations are much, much better than usually found. This bright blue color is rarely seen, and any examples with gum are scarce. CR #1 (yellowish paper) is a scarce stamp (most Aalborg locals are not scarce) and it also happens to be the #1 of this local post entity. [CR #1 is distinguished by yellowish paper; CR #3 has grayish or white paper, and CR #17 (1886) has a slightly brighter ultramarine-blue and is on much thinner white paper.]

[CR #1 is distinguished by yellowish paper; CR #3 has grayish or white paper, and CR #17 (1886) has a slightly brighter ultramarine-blue and is on much thinner white paper.]
