Faroe: Souvenir Cards: Official Souvenir Pages

With only a couple minor exceptions, the only officially issued Faroe "souvenir cards" are their so-called officially-issued "album pages". Additional items are usually in stock, but not on the website; please request approvals.

Officially issued by the Faroe post office, these little-known first day-canceled souvenir cards or pages were intended to be put in a 2-post binder. The opening page in the book was to be the 1975 90 øre Map issue (the set of pages for the rest of the 1975 issue also includes the 90 øre stamp). Until 2016, I had never seen most of the pages for 1977-1981 issues; they are scarce. Pages may have been issued later than 1988, but I have never seen them or any reports of them. However, a card not listed is not necessarily scarce. My understanding is that these pages were originally intended to be for child collectors, but that they ended up having a broader interest base. In any case, while they were current, I never saw them offered in North America. Many of the pages are highly "topical", including issues engraved by Slania, but are virtually unknown to topical and Slania collectors. While these pages were apparently intended only to be offered with stamps affixed and first day canceled, I have seen just a couple "mint" pages without stamps (they may have been "errors") and just a couple pages with stamps, but not canceled. The cards usually have all the stamps of a set in identical positions and with mechanically-impressed cancels, however, I have seen a few examples with the stamps of a set in different positions than usual and/or with cancels that appear to be hand applied (such seem to be extremely scarce). While the cards are all on gray paper with lilac printing, I have seen one card (Scott #65-9) with green printing and possibly also with lilac printing (?). [Comments as of June 2017.]

I am generally interested in buying all these cards, whether listed or not.
