The "Official National" Christmas Seals of Iceland are issued by the Thorvaldsen Society. I also stock the Christmas seals of all other Icelandic issuers, including regional issuers, Rotary, Lions, Kiwanis, Scouting, etc., as well as blocks, sheets, imperforates, proofs, etc. from all issuers. All Icelandic Christmas Seals (and those of all the other Scandinavian countries) are available on approval. If you have specific topical/thematic interests, please let me know.
The local, regional, and other Christmas Seals are listed starting here.
The National (Thorvaldsen Society) seals for the years 1913-1918 and 1920 all have straight edges on one or two sides. Unless otherwise stated (hover mouse pointer over the image) the images are of a random straight edge position. If you desire a specific straight edge position, please send your want list.
1913 Christmas Seal Details: 1913 was the first year in which Icelandic Thorvaldsen Society Christmas Seals were issued -- they are the "national" Christmas Seals. The 1913 seals were printed by an unusual method and, though not recorded in the catalogs, the 1913 seal exists in two colors: Dark Ultramarine (mottled appearance) and Light Ultramarine (smooth appearance). Because of the combination of color and printing appearance, there is little doubt in my mind that there were at least two printings.
The sheets of 8 seals appear to have been printed using a plate of four subjects; there are design differences in each of the four subjects/positions. Within that plate of four, the top row of designs is upright and the bottom row of designs is inverted, creating foot-to-foot tete-beche pairs. The sheets of 8 were printed with two stikes of the plate of 4. For the second strike, the plate happened to be inverted. We know it was inverted because of the location of the plate varieties. However, because the plate of four itself was already tete-beche, the overall appearance of the sheet (other than the location of plate varieites) would have been the same regardless of whether the second strike was inverted or not inverted. The center 4-block, i.e. containing one row each from the first and second strikes, is tete-beche head-to-head. Because of this, there are naturally fewer tete-beche head-to-head pairs possible than foot-to-foot tete-beche pairs.
Each of the four plate positions has a crescent moon at upper left and a group of three (black) stars at upper right -- sometimes the three stars are quite faint, especially on the dark blue stamps. Plate position 1 has UPPER LEFT corner straight edges and no consistent major variety features that I have noticed. Plate position 2 has UPPER RIGHT corner margin straight edges and two major plate varieties: a "large black dot" in the lower left blue area and a "extra crescent" shaped line in the upper right blue area. Plate positions 3 and 4 each have straight edges on one side, but because their cliches were inverted in the printing plate, the straight edges are on the opposite sides than one would normally expect from their position numbers. Plate position 3 has a straight edge on the RIGHT side and (on the examples I have examined) has thin blue lines outside the black right frameline. Plate position 4 has a straight edge on the LEFT side and also has the "extra crescent" shaped line in the upper right blue area (but not the large black dot). Because of how this seal was printed, the plate positions of the top 4-block are the same if the sheet is view upright or inverted, and there is (apparently, that I have determined) no way to know which of the 4-blocks that make up the sheet is the top vs the bottom.
Because of differences in spacing in the plate layout vs the perforation tool, and the spacing difference that can result from two strikes of the plate, well centered examples are unusual. A scarcer rough perforation variety also exists, at least on the Light Ultramarine seals.

1913 Perforated Sheet of 8 (contains two types of tete-beche pairs)
1914 Christmas Seal Details: 1914 was the second year in which Icelandic Thorvaldsen Society Christmas Seals were issued -- they are the "national" Christmas Seals. The 1914 seals were printed in sheets of 8. Though I have had a couple of sheets many years ago (I think in the 1980s), I did not make high-resolution images of them at the time, thus I am not able to determine the plate size (which may be less than 8) or the positions of possible plate varieties. This needs further study. Though the 1914 issue is composed of tete-beche (all head to head) pairs, the production method was clearly different than the 1913 issue. Because of being completely composed of tete-beche pairs, there are only three perforation / straight edge types possible: straight edges on lower left, lower right, and bottom. The blue color ranges from a medium to dark to very dark. I believe that these are all the same color, but differ in darkness due to the plate being inked less or more. (On some examples, one can see darker blue shadows of the outline of the design; this type of artifact results from an ink-supply roller of too-small diameter being used.)

1914 Perforated SINGLE with bottom margin (straight edge), one of the three possible perforations / straight edge types (lower left, lower right, and bottom). NEVER HINGED with F-VF+ centering. Wonderfully fresh and bright, with an unusually crisp and clean printing impression and virtually perfect (quite scarce) color registration. The second national Icelandic Christmas seal.

1914 Perforated. TETE-BECHE (head to head) BLOCK OF FOUR, with all three possible perforations / straight edges: lower left, lower right, and bottom. Mint with XF centering. This does not appear to have ever been hinged, but there are two stamps with tiny gum skips or adhesions (?), thus I describe it as Mint lightly hinged instead of NH. One other of the stamps has a small blue line on the back that I think is extraneous blue ink from the printing process. Wonderfully fresh and bright, with strong perforations. Priced only as the two tete-beche pairs. Full sheets of 8, and even 4-blocks such as this, are quite scarce of this 1914 issue -- the second national Icelandic Christmas seal.

1914 Perforated. TETE-BECHE (head to head) PAIR, with straight edges at bottom of both stamp designs (i.e. top and bottom of the pair). This is one of two possible types of tete-beche straight edge pairs. Mint, WITHOUT GUM, with F-VF+ centering, but with minor facial scrape near the "1914" of one of the seals (most people would not notice it). Priced very low despite being a scarce classic Christmas seal!
