Collections: Scandinavia: Finland
I am constantly buying large and small collections and have built up quite a stock of nice, clean Scandinavian country collections. If you are considering getting into a new area and would like a "starter collection" (whether small or large), let me know about your interest. Also, if you are seeking used binders or used empty albums to match what you currently have, again, let me know. Here are a few samples of collections. The listings below are included by happenstance. If you are seeking a particular country or type of material, please let me know. Payment plans are available. I guarantee your satisfaction.

Due to the low prices, variations in weight, and different mailing methods, distances, and destinations, shipping cost varies and is additional for items in the Specials Collections listings unless otherwise mentioned. When ordering please include a note in the shopping cart comments section indicating if you prefer faster/costlier or slower/cheaper delivery so that I may more quickly quote the shipping costs and options for you.

Collections and lots are not normally sent on approval. If you have questions about an item, please inquire before ordering. Special return and refund limitations typically apply to such items. Please see the "Order Info" page for details.

Each item is one of a kind; orders will be filled in order of receipt. Payment by MasterCard or Visa suggested, but I will hold items for 10 days pending receipt of check if you prefer.

Finland Mint Collection 1941-2002: Collection of over 450 different mint, plus a few booklets, neatly mounted in Scott Specialty album. Pages run from 1856 through 2002 but are mixed: some are printed and some are hand-lettered quad pages, all in a slightly worn but quite serviceable 2-inch green 2-post Scott "Scandinavia and Finland" binder. Greatest strength is in lightly hinged 1954-78 issues including both commemoratives and some elusive definitives in issues from the 1979-2002 period, and some semi-postal sets of the 1940s-50s. While not comprehensive, what is here is in quite nice condition almost uniformly VF with the later issues all NH. Scott 2012 retail totals over $825. This is certainly an excellent value at an attractive price!

Finland 3-Numerals 1889-1900 Specialized Group: Attractive 5-page specialized mini collection of about 60 Used stamps of the 3-Numerals design (2p through 1m denominations) printed from 1889 through 1900, with both the earlier Perf 12.5 stamps and the later Perf 14x13 stamps. Neatly written up (typed), apparently in Czech (!!). This came to me from a client who had purchased it as part of a larger collection and apparently (??) he took out a very few stamps he wanted (I think he took only Mint stamps), but it is largely intact. The Perf 12.5 stamps are organized in the three perforation types that exist for the Perf 12.5 issues: "normal" (broad perf tips), "pointed" (sharp perf tips), and "rough". The first page has illustrations of the three types with their Czech captions -- with that information, there really is no language barrier. [If you have any doubt, use a smartphone with the Google Translate app to read the captions in English.] Each denomination, and each perf (where different perfs exist) are present in a variety of colors / shades (printings). The original collector pointed out (note the black arrows) major plate varieties (I count 4 that are so labeled, but there are surely more). There are 6 excellent-quality carved ("cork") canceled stamps, including 2 in bright blue. And there are 7 stamps with excellent-quality town or village cancellations. The colors include some scarcer printings of the 10p (rose, pink), 20p (with some nice yellows), 25p (with green-blues and blackish blue "large lion" per Facit), and 1m stamps (including the early light grays). I have added a few post-it notes pointing out scarcer colors. While this collection does not appear to contain any high-value items, it is a very nice group in excellent quality (I did not see any damaged stamps when I spot-checked), at a collection price that is far below the individual replacement value.
