2 Chestnut Brown, AFA #1IIIe, Facit #2IVb [1854 Fire RBS, Thiele III Printing] Used Superb with incredible deep rich color and four huge margins. The Chestnut color exists in several shades; to me this is the most striking of the colors. Very neat and light corner cancellation (numeral) applied contrary to regulations; the postmark was supposed to be in the center of the stamp so as to obliterate it (another reason that nice examples are hard to find). A face-free cancellation such as this is quite scarce. A fresh and bright example; seldom seen so nice. Accompanied by a Lasse Nielsen certificate.

44d, Facit #40b, AFA #25C [8 øre Perf 12.75, WATERMARK NEW CROWN, Print 121 (1902)]. Brilliant right margin NEVER HINGED 4-block from positions A29-30/39-40. Fine/F-VF centering. Appears to have been last sold in 1993 in a Christies auction where it was described as being from "the unique quarter sheet discovered by F.T.N. Caröe". Accompanied by Lasse Nielsen certificate stating "very fine item". An extremely scarce stamp as a single in Mint hinged condition and RARE as either a block or a single in NH condition. Value as singles: Facit 2007 SEK 36,000 = $5000. AFA 2007 DKK 34,500 = $5700. This block certainly has a break-up value of more than my price. This block is a showpiece with excellent investment potential as the value is supported by the four stamps which are constantly sought after by every serious collector of Danish stamps.

B2 [1921 10 on 20 øre overprint Sønderburg Castle, South Jutland Reunion; Red Cross semi-postal] Used VF 4-block with neat central postmark. Even nice used singles of this stamp are now scarce. Facit 2006 per-stamp value is SEK 600 = $84 and AFA 2006 is DKK 600 = $100 for ordinary quality. Used blocks are seldom seen. Offered just below my "break up" value as four singles!

O6 two pairs, O7, O8 [Officials: 3, 4, 8 øre Perf 14] (F-VF, F-VF, Ave) on large piece of registered cover with rare [rarity 9 out of 10; Københavns poststempler] EXPERIMENTAL violet clock postmark: "Expederet / F. / Kjöbenhavns Brevpostkontor" with roman-numeral hour dial and arabic-numeral minute dial. The 21 October 1892 date is earlier than the earliest date (19 November) reported in the København cancel book; however it is also noted that after-strikes were also done by Bøgh and Andersen. The AFA value of four used 3 øre Official stamps is DKK 1200 = $205! Regardless, this is a beautiful example of a very rare postmark.

Q11 [1919 l kr Brown Postfærge] Used VF with excellent violet straight-line "Fanø-Esbjerg Færge" cancellation; correct type of postmark only used in the proper period. This value is notorious for very poor centering; this example is exceptional. [Facit 2006 value is SEK 1500 = $210 for typical (only Fine) centering; this example.]

Denmark Returned Letter Stamp Collection: Stamps used to seal and process damaged mail and mail being returned to sender. The Danish stamp designs copied the U.S. OX Official Seals design. Collection of 14 items consisting of 25 stamps, including several that are very scarce. Includes two small sheets, imperforates, plate variety, and wide range of perforation types, etc. I carefully built this collection for a client over many years; this must be the nicest assemblage of these scarce stamps that I have been able to offer in 32 years! These stamps are seldom offered. They are occasionally listed by Facit and AFA, but a new publication is in the works and that should result in much increased demand and prices. Individually would sell for over $775. A collection is rare!
