Scott #2, 4, 5, 7, 29, 31a [1938 5, 10, 15 øre King, and 30 øre Polar Bear; 1950 5 øre and 15 øre Dull Violet King] (VF) on 30 July 195x (?) registered cover from JULIANEHAAB (JULIANEHÅB registry label) to København. There are no other postmarks, but a receiving postmark is not expected in this time period. The total franking on the envelope totals 80 øre. Depending upon the date of mailing and the weight (0-50 grams vs 50+ grams), the amount of postage could be correct. There were several years during the 1950s in which a 50+ grams (1.77+ ounces) registered letter to Denmark would have been exactly 80 øre. This is a very nice multi-issue, multi-design, cover franked with stamps in six different colors. To make it even more interesting, the return address handstamp on the reverse is "Poststationen / Julianehåb", the post office in Julianehåb. This envelope might have contained purchased stamps or perhaps correspondence regarding difficulties with a item of mail. This envelope could have easily contained 50+ grams or 1.77+ ounces of correspondence or correspondence plus stamps. In any case, it seems most likely that the post office itself would have applied stamps for the correct (thus 80 øre) postage amount.
