From the "Kæmneren i Godthåb" (violet handstamp on reverse), the treasurer or business office of the local commune administration, to the Danish State Department office handling Greenlandic affairs. The postmark is unclear, but this was in a small group of other stampless official mail covers dated around 1955 and thus is likely from that time period. Such items are extremely unusual; the vast majority were discarded upon receipt. |

From the "POLITIET I JULIANEHÅB" (violet crowned handstamp on front), POLICE Department, to the Danish State Department office handling Greenlandic affairs. As often the case with such official mail, there is no postmark. However, this was in a small group of other stampless official mail covers dated around 1955 and thus is likely from that time period. Such items are extremely unusual; the vast majority were discarded upon receipt. A wonderful item for a LAW ENFORCEMENT thematic collection -- I do not recall seeing any other Greenlandic police-related items. |
