Iceland: Stamps: Scott 21-33A: 1876-1901 Perforation 12.75 Numerals and Prir Overprints
Scott numbers have been given for these listings. If you would prefer to examine the stamps before purchasing, or you are any seeking stamps (or any condition or any quality) not listed here, please send your want list using your choice of Scott or Facit numbers.
Unless there is a 6-digit item number in the left-most column, the images shown in this section are standard images of the issues from my image library; they are presented to show the designs of the stamp issues and not to show the specific individual stamps being offered. The centering of the stamps in the images is usually Superb or VF quality; again these are not images of the individual stamps being offered. Most early stamps had multiple printings, thus color shades vary greatly; the colors in the images are random printings/colors. If there is a 6-digit item number in the left-most column, the image is of the actual item being offered.
All the listed conditions and qualities were in stock at the moment this list was prepared and I endeavor to maintain them in stock and to keep this website updated. However, my stock changes daily and (to paraphrase) good stamps are hard to find. If you are willing to accept a different grade or quality if an item is temporarily out of stock, please let me know when ordering (add a comment at the conclusion of the shopping cart process) and please also let me know of any alternates you will consider. Furthermore, new stamps are being put in stock every day; if the quality and/or condition you are seeking is not listed, please send your want list.
The publication of this list is a "first effort" in quite a long time. It surely includes a few errors; I will be grateful if you would inform me of any errors. Stamps "missing" from the list simply might not be included because they are not in stock or are singles which are normally only listed in full sets. Just the same if it seems like something obvious (and not a single from a set) is missing, please let me know. If you can offer for sale items that are not listed here, please do so; I especially need sources of pre-1940 mint (hinged or never hinged) stamps and recent used complete sets. Prices are subject to typographical error and change, but I will do my best to honor the listed prices to the extent of available stock.

21 [1897 3 aur (small 3) Numeral, Perf 12.75] NEVER HINGED with XF centering. Wonderfully fresh with brilliant color, perfect perforations, and post office fresh gum. NH (or Hinged) well-centered examples of this scarce stamp are surprisingly hard to find. Facit 2022 value is SEK 3300 for NH with normal (lesser) centering. An outstanding example!

22 [1901 3 aur (large 3) Numeral, Perf 12.75] Used with VF centering and full and well-centered, but light 1902 cancellation. Nicely centered Used examples of this stamp are hard to find, especially with properly dated cancellations (because the Used value is almost three times the Mint value). A very nice example!

23 NORMAL FRAME [1900 4 aur Numeral, Perf 12.75] NEVER HINGED with VF centering. Wonderfully fresh and attractive, with bright colors, perfect perforations, post office fresh gum, and nice centering. Though listed in the AFA Specialized Catalog (2016 [in stock] or 1995 original edition or 1997 English translation), but not by Facit, the fact that there are inverted and normal frames of the Icelandic bi-colored Numeral stamps (4, 25, 50, and 100 aur) is not known by most collectors. Each sheet contained 51 normal frames and 49 inverted frames. For details, see this article with illustrations on my website. This is a wonderful example of "fun fact" kind of item that few people even know exists! Priced just as a basic NH stamp with this centering.

25, Facit #25b + variety, AFA 7B.7y [1897 aur gray Numeral, Perforation 12.75, (September 1898; 7th printing of all 6 aur stamps; 2nd printing of this perforation), Gray to Light Gray] NEVER HINGED with XF centering. PLATE VARIETY AFA 7By (color spot and line before N of ISLAND, dent in right frameline). Wonderfully fresh -- this must be from a recently broken block. Well-centered, NH examples of this stamp (Scott #25 in general) are surprisingly hard to find. Wonderfully fresh with excellent centering, great color, perfect perforations, and post office fresh original gum. An exceptional example! [Facit 2022 value SEK 450 for the NH stamp with normal centering; AFA Specialized 2016 (most recent) DKK 800 for the NH variety!]

25 Dark Gray, Facit #25a [1897 6 aur Numeral, Perf 12.75, 1897 Printing] Used with F-VF centering and with neat, full, almost perfectly centered, proper AKUREYRI single-ring cancellation. Very attractive with fresh color and perfect perforations, and with a nice smaller-city cancellation. A very nice example.

28a [1897 ULTRAMARINE 20 aur Perf 12.5 Numeral] Mint, hinged, with XF centering and large margins, but with light crease only seen from the backside. Terrific overall appearance, with wonderful color and perfect perforations. This ultramarine stamp is quite scarce in Mint condition, but it seldom seen with centering this nice. Facit 2022 value is SEK 5000 for Mint Hinged with normal centering. Scott 2023 value is $575.

28a Ultramarine, Facit #28a [1897 20 aur Numeral, Perf 12.75, 1897 Ultramarine Printing] Used with Fine+ centering and with neat, full, nearly perfectly centered, proper ISAFJÖRDUR single-ring cancellation. Very attractive with fresh ultramarine color and perfect perforations, and with a nice smaller-city cancellation. A very nice example.
