Scott #316 PLATE VARIETY, NK #402v1 "Color spot on left edge of 0 of 60" [1951 60 øre King Haakon VII] Used with F-VF+ centering and cancellation that is away from the variety, but with a thin. This NK-listed plate variety is "seldom" offered despite the modest catalog value. I suspect that not only did this variety exist in only one sheet position, but only in one issued sheet of a larger press sheet, and only in one printing / plate. It is likely that very few examples exist. I believe that this is only the first time in 52 years that I have been able to offer a Used (or Mint) example -- very few examples seem to have survived and have been recognized for what they are. Very attractive. ACTUAL item. |

Scott #317 PLATE VARIETY, NK #403v1 "White spot on lower left edge of 0 of 80" [1951 80 øre King Haakon VII] Used with VF centering and cancellation that is away from the variety. This NK-listed plate variety is "seldom" offered despite the modest catalog value. NK lists this variety as from sheet position "69/2", position 69 in every other (???) sheet (or pane 2 of ?? panes in the printers sheet?). I suspect that not only did this variety exist in only one sheet position, and only in one issued sheet (pane) of a larger press sheet, but also only in one printing / plate. It is likely that very few examples exist. I believe that this is only the first time in 52 years that I have been able to offer a Used (or Mint) example -- very few examples seem to have survived and have been recognized for what they are. This plate variety is NOT listed by NK but is of a type that is usually listed: "Thin blue diagonal line above back of hat, just below inner frameline". I have not previously seen this variety. If this were NK-listed, the price would be at least three times as much! ACTUAL item. |
