Scott #218a (Greenish Blue), Facit #216b [1924 30 öre greenish blue UPU Anniversary] Used with F-VF+ centering and a well-centered 30 September 1924 BOMHUS town cancellation (Postmark Type 58q). Used about six weeks after issue. This GREENISH BLUE major color variety -- the only color variety of the 1924 UPU Anniversary issue -- is "remarkably scarce" with such a nice quality postmark dated in the correct time period. Most postmarks on this stamp are dated at least several years later. I am not sure when this major color variety was first noticed, but I suspect it was at least several months after issue. Furthermore, this major color variety is "extremely scarce" used from small towns and villages. In this case, BOMHUS is a "fairly scarce" town and the Type 58 cancellation is "quite scarce". The Bomhus post office (opened 1894-12-01) had only two types of cancellations: Postmark Type 14 (circle composed of dots), so far known used 1895-07-13 thru 1920-06-16; and Postmark Type 58 so far known used 1920-07-20 thru 1926-04-15. This is a "dead" post office as it became part of Gäfle on 1926-07-01. Thus this Type 58 cancellation was only in use for a few years and it could have only been used on UPU stamps for less than two years before the post office (by this name) closed. In my opinion, this major color variety is grossly under-appreciated.
