Scott numbers have been used for the stamps unless otherwise indicated. The quality / centering of the stamp is stated separately from the quality / centering of the cancellation. In a postmark / cancellation context, the quality / centering of the cancellation is usually the dominant driver of the value. All these items and many thousands more are available for viewing on approval. Please request approvals; due to lack of time, the vast majority of my Swedish cancellation stock will never make it to the website or price lists.
Swedish cancellations starting with the letter "Å", "Ä" and "Ö" are at the end of the A-Z alphabet. Over time (and particularly as part of a major change in 1900) there have been changes in the spelling of Swedish town names and/or which letters are used for the same purpose. For the purpose of our cancellation listings, the spelling in the cancellation has been used, thus if you are looking for a particular town, look in the appropriate multiple places in the alphabet. As examples... W has changed to V: Varberg and Warberg are the same town, but in different periods of time. F has also sometimes changed to V: V(W)ifstavarf has become Vivstavarv. Q has sometimes changed to K: Qvibille has become Kvibille. [General information on other letter-use changes is welcome.]
Home County (Län) / Province (Landskap) collecting: The 21 Swedish Counties are current administrative units, while the 25 Swedish Provinces are historical, geographical, and cultural designations. The borders of each are sometimes the same, but are often different, with many inclusions, exclusions, and combinations and changes over time. It is too complicated a subject for discussion here. Collecting Swedish postmarks and cancellations is often done at the Province level, so-called "home town collecting". The Facit "Postal" Cancellations and Postal History Catalog (which is available from us) provides a map and a set of abbreviations for each County and Province. Using the abbreviations from the Facit Postal, in some case our descriptions will include the County and Province for a town in square brackets, such as "[F-SM]" (Jönköping County-Län / Småland Province-Landskap). A web page can be searched with "Control+f" or "Command+f". To find the COUNTIES, search using a square bracket, followed the County abbreviation, followed by a dash, such as "[F-". To find PROVINCES, search using a dash, followed by the Province abbreviation, followed by a square bracket, such as "-SM]".
Scott #6, Facit #7b2 (Dark) Green, 1865 Perforations [1858 5 öre "Vapen" Coat of Arms, 1867-1869 Printing] Used with SUPERB CENTERING, but with a thin and a very tiny (nearly invisible) margin tear. With an "almost perfectly" centered 11 September 1969 HEMSE ("VERY SCARCE") cancellation (and also with an extremely tiny part of a second cancellation strike). Wonderfully nice appearance and an excellent-looking example of this color, with fabulous centering, and excellent perforations. The Facit #7b2 2024 listing DOES correspond exactly to the Nordisk Filateli color images pages produced ca.1980 for the color, but back in 1980 they did not know about some of the 1855 vs 1865 perforation differences. This color was produced with both the "1855" and "1865" perforations. This example has the 1865 perforations. The 1855 perforations are almost always irregular and often have broken / missing perforating pins. The stamps of this printing are "slightly scarcer" than some other colors / printings of the 5 öre, but they are often misrepresented as the much scarce Dark Green of Scott #6a (Facit #7a). Though the stamp does have some (hidden) faults, it is a beautiful example with an almost perfect strike of a "very scarce" town cancellation. Without the quality problems, the otherwise Superb stamp and Superb, scarce cancellation would easily sell for $100.

Scott #62 [1891 30 öre Oscar, Engraved] (Fine) solo use on 3 May 1904 domestic money order, in the amount of kr 92.05, from HENNAN (Cancellation Normal Type 14), with a SUPERBLY CENTERED but light cancellation, transiting the supervising post office in LJUSDAL on the same day, to GEFLE where the payment was received (recorded with two different styles of Gefle postmarks) by the recipient on the next day. Hennan is today a tiny village; in 1966 the postal service changed to a rural route of nearby Ramsjö. The 30 öre franking paid the money order rate for over 50 kr to and including 100 kr, 1 Aug 1892 thru 31 May 1918. This rate was the primary solo use of this stamp.

Scott #22 [1872 12 öre blue Ringtype, Perforation 14] (Average) on a 24 February 1877 folded cover with contents, from HÖGSÄTERSBY to Uddevalla. This post office was established 1 January 1876, thus this is a fairly early use -- and a very nice one at that. The postmark is "somewhat scarce" regardless of the date. The contents are a business or products or shipments report; I have seen the same type of reports from other towns sent to the same addressee. A very attractive cover in fresh condition.

60 Type I, Facit #56I [1891 20 öre Oscar watermarked; no horizontal engraving lines behind ear] Used with Superb centering and a F-VF 22 September 1891 HÖÖR (changed to HÖR in 1911) pre-November cancel that confirms that this must be a Type I. The Ultramarine color is distinct, but exists for both types -- Type I does NOT have horizontal shading lines on the back of the head behind the ear (Type II does). This stamp is scarce with such nice centering and is rarely seen thus AND with a confirming-date postmark. Certainly scarcer than 1 in 1000 examples.
