| NOTE: Genuine vs Forgeries of Scott #35-43. The genuine stamps are always perforated 14 x 14 (or imperforate); be sure to measure the perforations on all four sides. If perforated and not 14 x 14, they are forgeries. Forgeries (and genuine) do exist of the imperforates. It is not known to me if any forgeries exist that are perforated 14 x 14, but be cautious. The genuine stamps have fine detail, especially in the horizontal background shading. There are multiple genuine transfer (die) types for each stamp, thus a difference does not necessarily mean it is a forgery. Forged stamps have crude details, awkward lettering, varying paper quality, and various perforations. The forgeries are numerous and plentiful, but would be an interesting mini collection (I sometimes have a group available). | ||||||||
