2a [First Printing -- First Danish Stamp!] Used horizontal PAIR. F-VF with large margins on three sides, but touches at top. Unusually intense dark color and with perfectly centered "bulls eye" mute cancellation. Exceptional appearance. AFA Specialized 2008 value DKK 1800 = $305 (3/09)!

2a [First Printing -- First Danish Stamp! "Ferslew" Print with engraved burelage] Facit #2I in LIGHT Red Brown. Used Superb with four large to huge margins. The typical mute cancel is centered a little low, allowing a better view of the stamp design (regulations stated that the cancel was to be in the middle).

2a [First Printing -- First Danish Stamp! "Ferslew" Print with engraved burelage] Facit #2I in DARK Red Brown. Used VF with four margins. Weak upper right corner (only visible from the back). NUMERAL CANCELLATION #53 (Randers, Type 1). This stamp is not normally found with numeral cancellations and is even scarcer with such cancels from the smaller cities. This 53-1 postmark was put into use approximately 1 December 1852, well after the March 1852 introduction of the Thiele printings (Scott #2). While several catalogs and handbooks price numeral cancellations on the usual FIRE RBS (Scott #2), none that I know specifically price their much, much scarcer use on the Ferslew printings (Scott #2a). Very attractive example!

2, AFA 1IIa, Plate I, Position 6 [4 rbs, second Thiele printing] Used VF+ with large margins all around. Remarkable example with half of a manuscript "X" cancellation. At one time, this was the left stamp of a pair that was canceled with a large, bold "X". Manuscript cancellations on the Fire R.B.S. stamps are very scarce -- DAKA lists them starting at DKK 1400, but a cancel of this appearance is quite rare. Accompanied by a Møller photo certificate.
