10, Facit #11a First Printing [1876 6 aur, Perf 14 x 13.5] Mint F-VF, original gum. With color described by Facit as "dark gray (violet tinge), blurred print", the first printing stamps have very distinctive appearance. Because this printing was on an extremely thin paper most examples that are encountered are damaged, usually badly, and usually without gum too. This example is not only in sound condition, but it fresh and attractive -- this must be the freshest mint example I have had in 37 years. The 2010 Facit value is SEK 2600 = $365 [9/10], but this value does not properly reflect the scarcity of undamaged examples. 25% fewer of these were printed than Iceland #1, which has a value four times as much! |

In 37 years, this is only the third uncanceled example I have had; of the other two, only one had gum. |

Proper, genuine, mostly complete REYKJAVIK cancellation. A nice-looking example of a very scarce stamp; due to the extremely thin paper, the vast majority of examples are heavily damaged. 2010 Facit value is SEK 4400 = $615 [9/10]. |
