Collections: World: Topical
I am constantly buying large and small collections and often have a variety of U.S. and Worldwide collections, lots, and accumulations available. If you are considering getting into a new area and would like a "starter collection" (whether small or large), let me know about your interest. Also, if you are seeking used binders or used empty albums to match what you currently have, again, let me know. Here are a few samples of collections. The listings below are included by happenstance. If you are seeking a particular country or type of material, please let me know. Payment plans are available. I guarantee your satisfaction.

Due to the low prices, variations in weight, and different mailing methods, distances, and destinations, shipping cost is additional for items in the Specials Collections listings unless otherwise mentioned. When ordering please include a note in the shopping cart comments section indicating if you prefer faster/costlier or slower/cheaper delivery so that I may more quickly quote the shipping costs and options for you.

Collections and lots are not normally sent on approval. If you have questions about an item, please inquire before ordering. Special return and refund limitations typically apply to such items. Please see the "Order Info" page for details.

Each item is one of a kind; orders will be filled in order of receipt. Payment by MasterCard or Visa suggested, but I will hold items for 10 days pending receipt of check if you prefer.

American Bicentennial on Stamps U.S. and Worldwide Topical Collection: Very attractive collection of over 300 stamps and souvenir sheets, as well as about 28 covers, commemorating the U.S. Bicentennial and associated early U.S. history subjects. The vast majority of the stamps are NH VF and the covers clean and attractive. All are contained in a handsome dark blue 32-page = 64-side stockbook with imprinted multi-colored U.S. Coat of Arms (and on spine) and "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" in gold. Though not so marked, I believe that the stockbook was made by Davo -- it matches the style of their albums. The stockbook pages are black with crystal-clear rows and have glassine interleaving; it is in excellent gently used condition. This used stockbook would sell empty for $24 (a couple empty ones, that had contained unrelated items, are available at this writing if you want more expansion room). I do not have time to count up the value of the contents, but I estimate that the individual retail will total over $135 and maybe a fair bit more. This is a great way to start such a collection and the stockbook has ample space for expansion.

American March to Freedom Commemorative Panels Collection: Handsome collection of 40 different large illustrated commemorative panels telling the story of the American movement toward independence. Each bears mint stamp issues pertaining to the events being described on each respective panel. The narrative text ties together the American Bicentennial and related issues with the sequence of events which brought on the Revolutionary War and ending with the Treaty of Paris of 1783. Contained in an attractive dark blue illustrated binder in nice, protective plastic sleeves. A handsome presentation of an attractive and interesting subject. This price is a fraction of the original subscription cost! The panels are also suitable for framing and other displays -- they are a great way to introduce the public to stamp collecting.

1984 Olympic Games Commemorative Panels Collection: Large volume of 87 different commemorative panels honoring the 1984 Olympic Games, in a handsome dark blue leatherette binder in nice, protective plastic sleeves. Each panel has a large color photo of an Olympic event or athletes competing, plus a Mint VF set of stamps issued by different countries honoring the Games. Many of the stamp designs show the same event as pictured on that panel. A fabulous tribute to the Olympic Games and an impressive presentation of an ever-enduring sports topical. This price is a fraction of the original subscription cost and appears to be significantly below the value of the mint sets included. The panels are also suitable for framing and other displays -- they are a great way to introduce the public to stamp collecting.

United States Presidents and First Ladies Historical Collections: Two large historical albums: The Presidents of the U.S.A. and The First Ladies of the U.S.A. These contain unaddressed covers with colored cachets picturing each president from George Washington to Jimmy Carter and each first lady from Martha Washington to Nancy Reagan, each with postage canceled at a pertinent location. The covers are neatly mounted on pages with extensive biographical write-ups of each individual. There are some tiny age spots on the extreme edges of some pages, but the covers and contents are otherwise uniformly VF. The first ladies volume is particularly fascinating. How many first ladies were named Elizabeth? Remember Harriet Lane? How many collectors who can name the presidents in order can tell you for which president she was first lady? Each collection is housed in a large padded binder with matching slipcase, making this a handsome addition to any American historical collection. Even better, the price is just a tiny fraction of the original subscription cost!

Historic Stamps of America: Cover Collection: Large (16 x 13 inches) album containing 64 covers all franked with U.S. Flag stamps but with the "cachet" made of different mint U.S. stamps encased in plastic. The mint stamps are all selected for their historical interest -- each is accompanied by a card with well-written text about the stamp subject. The Flag stamps are canceled at towns relevant to the subject matter of the mint stamps in the "cachet". The album contains an additional 22 empty pages that could hold 132 more covers (standard U.S. FDC size). A very interesting presentation that is also quite educational. This could be of interest to a collector or to interest non-collectors, or to be given to a teacher to use in the classroom. This is heavy so I have priced it at only 15 cents each for the covers and expect a higher postage shipping cost. This must have cost the original purchaser at least a couple dollars per cover, if not more! A super deal!

Sir Rowland Hill Topical Collection: Whether described as the "father of the adhesive postage stamp" or "the father of penny postage", Rowland HiIl, the creator of the Penny Black, is fundamental to the existence of our hobby. This is a set of attractive. album pages produced ca.1979 for the stamp issues commemorating the 100th anniversary of the death, in 1879, of Rowland Hill. The publisher of the pages is not known to me. All fits in a single nice 3-ring binder with front cover and spine inserts. There are a couple dozen items, mostly souvenir sheets, present in the collection -- all are NH VF. Also included is a 21-page booklet by the (British) National Postal Museum titled "The Life and Work of Sir Rowland Hill 1795-1879" and ca.1955 24-page, plus 10 color plates, booklet "De La Rue Journal / Stamp Centenary Number" which includes an article discussing Hill, but also much about the early development of stamps and the post as well as the stamp printing by the famous De La Rue firm. I have not previously seen either publication; they do have value. While there is not a lot of raw catalog value present in this collection, the album is very useful and perfect for continuation. This would be a great start on a fascinating collecting topic.
