Collections: World: Worldwide
I am constantly buying large and small collections and often have a variety of U.S. and Worldwide collections, lots, and accumulations available. If you are considering getting into a new area and would like a "starter collection" (whether small or large), let me know about your interest. Also, if you are seeking used binders or used empty albums to match what you currently have, again, let me know. Here are a few samples of collections. The listings below are included by happenstance. If you are seeking a particular country or type of material, please let me know. Payment plans are available. I guarantee your satisfaction.

Due to the low prices, variations in weight, and different mailing methods, distances, and destinations, shipping cost is additional for items in the Specials Collections listings unless otherwise mentioned. When ordering please include a note in the shopping cart comments section indicating if you prefer faster/costlier or slower/cheaper delivery so that I may more quickly quote the shipping costs and options for you.

Collections and lots are not normally sent on approval. If you have questions about an item, please inquire before ordering. Special return and refund limitations typically apply to such items. Please see the "Order Info" page for details.

Each item is one of a kind; orders will be filled in order of receipt. Payment by MasterCard or Visa suggested, but I will hold items for 10 days pending receipt of check if you prefer.

Worldwide Collection to 1958 in Four Scott International Albums: Mounted collection of a few thousand different, mint and used, on Scott International pages (Parts I-III, 1840-1958), integrated alphabetically (a big benefit) in 4 blue International binders (insted of the expected 3 binders). [When first issued, Part III started out ending in the early 1950s but as more pages were issued, Scott did not start Part IV, they continued as Part III until the late 1950s; this collection has pages through 1958. This explains why this collection is in four binders instead of three.] It appears that some stamps were removed at some point in time, but this is much nicer than a remnant and still deserves to be called a collection. Includes some United States. World contents somewhat uneven: some countries sparce, others well represented. Includes many common stamps, but you will also find medium values scattered throughout to the $1-$5 catalog value range. Very few minor faults; nearly all F-VF or better with much VF. Some of the mint are lightly stuck, but many of those can probably be lifted with care. The albums date from the 1950s, and are starting to show their age, but they are still in much nicer than usual condition for these. If one wanted to continue the collection in this housing that would be perfectly reasonable. This is an excellent value -- especially for anyone who can use a set of albums to house their older worldwide collection.

Worldwide Balance of an Unusual Old-Time Collection: Collection balance of thousands of stamps, mint and used, mounted on blank pages. Ranging from 19th century to the 1950s and seemingly not touched by the collector since the 1950s. (A "balance" means that stamps have been removed at some point in time.) Contents spread out on a stack of pages (3-hole punched, NO binders) that measures 16 inches high! Enormous range of countries, including many "dead" countries such as Alaouites, Montenegro, the old colonial empires, etc., plus a little bit of non-Scott material. While much is common, you wil also find many useful older numbers in the $1-$5 catalog value range. What makes this collection balance so unusual is the presence of many seldom seen (in such collections) stamps -- while some may have low catalog values, they are simply not often encountered in typical old collections. Quality varies: there are some minor faults, but vast majority is F-VF or VF. Many lightly stuck at the top edge of the hinge, but most can be removed with care. (TIP: Always remove the page from the stamp, NOT the stamp from the page.) A varied and interesting collection which will provide hours of pleasure for a worldwide collector!

Worldwide Floor Sweepings: Once again we need to clear some floor space. Here is yet another worldwide accumulation of thousands, mostly older issues, mint and used, which fills a sizable carton. This includes several beginner collections in various albums; the best of these are a 1954 Cornet album and a Scott 1933 Modern album with useful ranges of older stamps. You will also find thousands more in plastic bags and glassines, some sorted by countries, some totally disorganized. There is also much on-paper mixture including Australia and off-paper mixture which includes Germany and Bolivia. There is a full sheet of 50 of the Solomon Islands 1987 Americas Cup Official stamps, a handful of old commercial packets, and even a few miscellaneous covers. Quality varies as typical, but overwhelming majority should be F-VF or better. Many enjoyable hours of sorting fun await you here!

Worldwide Mildewed Mess -- Two Albums: As anybody who knows me will attest, I have a hard time throwing anything out, especially if it contains stamps. This is a group of two albums from the same estate: 1940s Modern Album and a 1950s Comprehensive Album. Both have severe mildew damage to the album covers and page-edges. However, the vast majority of the stamps in the albums appear to be perfectly fine (but I am not going to look very closely). A quick glance shows that the Modern Album contains more stamps, though years ago most of the U.S. stamps were removed by a previous owner. Otherwise everything is present exactly as the stamps were originally put into the album. I am not going to look closely enough to determine if there are any valuable stamps present, however, a quick glance did reveal some items that should be a dollar or two each -- yet I am sure the vast majority must be common stamps. I will let somebody else have the fun of discovering what is in these -- just be sure you are wearing a mask, preferably doing it outdoors (so the mildew does not contaminate items in your home), and with air flowing away from you. My system will not work with a zero price, so I have priced this lot at $1 plus the postage cost. No guarantees of whether that is a bad deal, an okay deal, or a terrific deal. This is not for the faint of heart, there is no telling what it contains.

Worldwide Collection to 1978 in 11 Scott International "Big Blue" Albums: Worldwide collection of several (many?) thousand different, mint and used, on Scott International pages arranged and integrated alphabetically (a HUGE ADVANTAGE) in 11 large "big blue" Scott International 2-post binders. I can see where it looks like a few stamps have been removed here and there but this is NOT a "remainder" collection. The earliest pages are from the 1955 edition and then supplemented as new volumes were issued up through 1978. However, most of the stamps are from the earlier years with very little after 1950. Of course, there are many minimum value stamps, but I also see a lot with $1-3 catalog values. The collection looks sparse, but this is primarily because of the sheer number of 1956-1978 pages integrated with the 1840-1955 pages. Thus, here and there you will find countries with decent representation of the older issues. For example, Danzig is well filled in and there is a nice showing of 1940s-1960s Russia. Countries like Belgium and Great Britain have good showings. The strongest countries are in Europe, but you will also find Asia, Latin America, some colonies, etc. Quality is clean and sound, F-VF or VF throughout. The pages and binders are all neat and clean, ready to use. This collection / album set would be best suited for someone who either wants to start a worldwide collection or who already has lots of worldwide stamps and wants to get them into an album. Because of editorial changes to the albums at various times over the decades, it is not possible to directly compare the original 1955 edition to what is published today (there may be more spaces included today; the 1955 edition was probably more compact and not as complete, but the pages quickly became more complete from 1956 onward). Today new albums can be obtained at a discounted price from Scott for about $127 each (about $150 normal retail) including pages and binder, thus these 11 albums are roughly equivalent to a new price of about $1400. Considering the cost of albums nowadays, this is a BARGAIN for anyone seeking a housing for an older worldwide collection -- plus it contains thousands of stamps -- with the capacity to absorb your 1840-1978 acquisitions for many years. (The post-1978 volumes can be obtained from Scott.)

Worldwide Floor Sweepings: Worldwide accumulation of thousands, mint and used, filling a large carton. This includes four older basic collections in different albums, including a 1940 Scott "Modern" and a 1973 Harris "Statesman". You will also find some stock sheets with older Czechoslovakia and a fancy stockbook with some miscellaneous British Colonies. Then there are the enormous quantities of on-and-off paper mixtures in plastic bags, accumulated, by several different collectors, in different eras ranging from pre-1950 to lot and lots of later large-size pictorials. Some is sorted by countries in glassines, but a vast amount is completely unsorted and probably untouched for many years. Quality varies as typical, but the overall quality will be F-VF or VF. Surely there are no (?) great rarities here, but I guarantee many hours of sorting enjoyment for any worldwide collector!

Thematic Display Collections: An unusual professionally prepared group of 16 "display pages" on heavy card measuring 10 x 13 inches, each with a different theme illustrated by worldwide stamps, printed graphics, and printed text. Some of the subjects are sports, Olympics, U.S. Army and Navy, Scouting, U.S. Bicentennial, Airplanes, De Gaulle, seashells, art, religion, wildlife, sailing ships, WWII, flags, etc. The stamps are in clear mounts and appear to all be NH VF, but two stamps are missing from one page. Just estimating, I see at least $30 (probably more) retail for the stamps. While not the usual "collector fare", these very attractive pages would be absolutely fabulous for displays in schools, libraries, post offices, public buildings, etc., etc. Be a promoter of philately and use these to get others interested. At this price, you cannot go wrong!
