100 Pair [1913 10 øre Christian X] (F-VF, one damaged) on 25 October 1919 cover from HØRSHOLM to DAMASCUS, SYRIA, with 12 November 1919 receiver on reverse. Proper 20 øre foreign letter rate. This is a "rare" destination for mail from Denmark, especially pre-1920; I may have had (only) one or two other Danish pre-1960 (a much longer time period than this pre-1920 cover) covers to Syria, but I do not recall any specifics. The damage to one stamp is inconsequential on a use this "rare".

Scott #107 [1920 25 øre brown and black Christian X] (VF) solo use on 14 October 1921 picture post card (artist-signed, dated 1919, comical cartoon scene of children playing musical instruments) from København with machine cancellation, to Kaiserwald, Riga, LATVIA. Kaiserwald was the German name for the present-day Riga neighborhood of Mezaparks. This is a correct solo use of this stamp. In the Scandinavian / Nordic countries, 1921-1925 is an interesting era in postal rates when rate rose around 1921, but then declined again around 1925. The correct solo uses of stamps in that era are generally harder to find. This use is an example of that situation. This 25 øre brown and black stamp was "issued" (or delivered from the printer) 2 June 1920, with the intended use being domestic registered letters (10 øre letter rate plus 15 øre registry fee). The foreign post card rate changed from 10 øre to 25 øre on 1 February 1921, making this stamp further relevant. This brown and black 25 øre Chr-X stamp continued in use in this new primary role because a new 25 øre stamp (red Chr-X) was not issued until 4 January 1922. This stamp is remarkably hard to find as a solo use either on covers or post cards. A wonderful example in excellent quality, sent to a rather unusual destination for mail from Denmark.
