58, Facit #77v2, AFA #43ay [1905 2 øre Numeral and Wavy Lines, Crown Watermark, Perf 12.75] "PARTIALLY MISSING HEARTS" plate variety listed in both Facit and AFA Specialized. Usually examples with this much of the hearts missing are offered as "completely missing hearts", but that would not be correct. Both varieties are are not transient variations caused by too much inking; they are constant flaws that developed due to wear of the cliches (and likely due very shallow relief of that area of the cliches at the time of cliche manufacture). Used with F-VF centering and fully dated 3 September 1907 cancellation. The variety is clearly visible (or perhaps I should say "clearly not visible" since the partially missing hearts is the variety). Seldom offered, and when offered, many times it is not the actual variety. This is a nice one!

Scott #59 [1905 3 øre Numeral and Wavy Lines, Crown Watermark, Perf 12.75] Mint, lightly hinged, with XF centering. Wonderfully fresh and dark color for this stamp. Unusually nice centering and with "perfect" perforations. Though this is a "common" stamp in ordinary quality, such nice looking examples can be hard to find.

59, Facit #78v1, AFA #44bx [1905 3 øre Numeral and Wavy Lines, Crown Watermark, Perf 12.75] "MA" JOINED plate variety listed in both Facit and AFA Specialized. This variety only exists in 3 sheet positions (31, 38, 95). Mint, extremely lightly hinged, with VF centering. This variety is always in demand because it is so obvious, however, it is seldom offered.

Scott #59 Yellowish Gray Oily Print, AFA #44ab [1905 3 øre gray (shades) Wavy-Lines, Watermark Crown, Perforation 12.75] NEVER HINGED with F-VF centering. Wonderfully fresh and bright. This 3 øre stamp had a total of 26 printings, 1905-1913, all in shades of gray. The distinctive colors from those printings are Yellowish Gray 1905-1906, Yellowish Gray Oily Print 1907 THIS STAMP -- THE SCARCEST OF THE COLORS; Light Gray 1906-1908; Blackish Gray 1910-1911. The other shades of gray are difficult to sort out. The AFA 2016 Specialized Catalog (still the most recent version as of December 2025) value of THIS NH Yellowish Gray Oily Print stamp is DKK 250 (12/2025 approximately US$40). This color / printing is quite hard to find in any condition and quality, but NH examples are seldom seen!

60 [1905 4 øre Numeral and Wavy Lines, Crown Watermark, Perf 12.75] Mint, hinged, with XF/VF centering, BLOCK OF FOUR. Very fresh and attractive appearance. The color shade, paper, and impression strongly suggest that this block is from the first (scarcer) printing series (1905-1907; AFA #45a). Though normal Mint stamps are certainly not "scarce", blocks have become much harder to find in the last 20-30 years, particularly such nicely centered blocks.

60, Facit #79v2, AFA #45ay [1905 4 øre Numeral and Wavy Lines, Crown Watermark, Perf 12.75] "AR" JOINED AT BOTTOM plate variety listed in both Facit and AFA Specialized. This variety only exists in a total of 5 positions in the C and D sheets of the first printing series (1905-1907). There are two extremely similar versions of the variety: 1) From a matrix flaw that resulted in the vareity in sheet positions 29, 31, 44, 46; and 2) an individual cliche flaw that resulted in the variety in sheet position 39. I believe that this example is one of the four matrix flaw positions. Used with VF centering and dated [6 or 16 or 26] June 1907 cancellation. The variety is clearly visible. This variety is always in demand because it is so obvious, however, it is seldom offered.

Scott #60a [1917 4 øre blue Wavy-Line Numeral, PERFORATION 14 x 14.5, CROWN Watermark] NEVER HINGED with VF centering. Wonderful color, "perfect" perforations, very nice centering, and correct never hinged original gum. The crown watermark clearly visible. Examples this nice can be hard to find. Though this stamp is not costly, it is missing from many collections.

61 [1912 5 øre Numeral and Wavy Lines, Crown Watermark, Perf 12.75] Used BLOCK OF FOUR with F-VF centering, but with a couple minor bends as expected on a postally used block. Just as a point of interest (not affecting the price), this block shows an example of what is today called "revenue protection". The block was placed sideways on the envelope and received a machine cancellation which thus was mostly on two stamps (and a tiny bit on a third). Thus an observant postal clerk applied a handstamped cancel to fully cancel the other two stamps. Back then, it was "worth" the effort for postal clerks to do this, to prevent re-use of stamps, since the postage cost was "real money" to an ordinary person. While this is a "very common" stamp in Used condition, used blocks are very seldom offered!

Scott #62 Carmine Rose, AFA #65av [1912 10 øre rose (shades) Wavy-Lines, Watermark Crown, Perforation 12.75] NEVER HINGED with VF-XF centering. Wonderfully fresh and bright. AFA-LISTED PLATE VARIETY #65av with (faint) white line in the right lion from the rear toward the center of the lion. (There are less delicate ways to describe this one.) AFA just mentions that this is a matrix flaw, meaning that one position in the group of cliches that were duplicated to make a larger quantity of cliches passed this "flaw" onto several cliches, thus several sheet positions. The "SAVA Bogtryk 1983" variety catalog lists this as #65/14a and indicates that this variety is found in position 14 in part of the printing and to a less obvious degree also in positions 29, 56, and 66; this example is from one of those latter three positions. Any printing (color shade) of this stamp is very difficult to find in NH condition and with such nice centering. This is the only example of this variety that I have recorded having in 52 years.

The right stamp has a listed stamp variety, AFA Specialized 2016 (most recent edition) #66x: "shorter curved line on right side of top of crown"; DKK 125 for normal quality single. A very attractive and clearly visible example of this rarely-offered plate variety.

Scott #67, Facit #66a, AFA #49 Sepia-Brown [1904 25 øre brown (shades) Christian IX] Mint, extremely lightly hinged, with F-VF centering. The hinging is so light that the previous owner thought it was NH. Wonderfully fresh and with the true Sepia-Brown color (not the Gray-Brown color). Attractive Mint examples of this stamp are surprisingly hard to find.

68 GRAY LILAC (Facit #67b, AFA #50 Gray Lilac) [1905 50 øre Christian IX] Used with VF centering. PRE-PRINTING PAPER FOLD: horizontal, near the bottom, all the way across the stamp, wider at right side. The cancellation is clear of the wider part of the fold -- the unprinted gap -- at the right. This type of variety is exceptionally scarce on the Christian IX stamp issue, and especially on the higher denominations. This stamp is the key value of the set; even normal examples with nice centering are hard to find -- a normal example with this centering would be around $120!

Scott #76 Dark Orange [1912 35 øre Frederik VIII] NEVER HINGED with XF centering. Very strong, intense color on bright white paper. Large, well-balanced margins, "perfect" perforations, and correct never hinged original gum. There were a total of six printings (thus colors/shades) of the 35 øre stamp, with color ranging from orange-yellow to orange to dark orange. This is at the dark extreme of the color range and is quite hard to find to find in such exceptionally nice quality. This is the nicest Dark Orange example I have had in many years.

Scott #78 [1907 100 øre Frederik VIII] NEVER HINGED with Fine centering. Wonderfully fresh. Though the centering is only Fine, NH examples of the 100 øre stamp are particularly hard to find. Scott #82 Plate Variety, AFA #67p [1912 5 kr Post Office, Perforation 12.75, Crown Watermark] Mint, NO GUM, with VF centering. Wonderfully fresh looking with terrific color and "perfect" perforations. AFA-listed "p" variety: "extra white cloud to the right of the top of the tower" from sheet position 33. The AFA Specialized 2016 Catalog (still the most recent edition as of 4/2026) value is DKK 3000 for a normal Mint Hinged stamp with gum and DKK 6000 for the "p" variety Mint Hinged with gum [as of 4/2026 those are US$460 and US$920]. The varieties on this issue are quite difficult to obtain in Used condition and rarely offered in Unused/Mint condition. I have recorded having one other example of this variety (it was in Used condition) since I started recording them around 2000; I may have had another Used example between 1973 and 2000, but I am quite sure that I have never had a Mint/Unused example. This Mint No Gum example of the stamp is extremely nice even without regard to the variety -- such nicely centered Mint/Unused examples of this stamp (without a variety) are "quite scarce". An example of this stamp, without a variety, Mint Hinged with gum, and with this centering would otherwise be $495!

Scott #82 Plate Variety, AFA #67m [1912 5 kr Post Office, Perforation 12.75, Crown Watermark] Used with VF centering and an extremely light cancellation that is clear of the variety. Catalog-listed PLATE VARIETY 2016 AFA Specialized Catalog (still the most recent edition as of 11/2025) #67m "small color spot in top of K of KRONER" from position 13 in the sheet. The AFA value is DKK 2800 (about US$445 as of 11/2025). The plate varieties on this issue are quite difficult to obtain and it is unusual to find them unobscured by the postmark. This example is extremely nice.
