Scott numbers have been given for these listings. If you would prefer to examine the stamps before purchasing, or you are any seeking stamps (or any condition or any quality) not listed here, please send your want list using your choice of Scott, Facit, or AFA numbers.
Unless there is a 6-digit item number in the left-most column, the images shown in this section are standard images of the issues from my image library; they are presented to show the designs of the stamp issues and not to show the specific individual stamps being offered. The centering of the stamps in the images is usually Superb or VF quality; again these are not images of the individual stamps being offered. Most early stamps had multiple printings, thus color shades vary greatly; the colors in the images are random printings/colors. If there is a 6-digit item number in the left-most column, the image is of the actual item being offered.
All the listed conditions and qualities were in stock at the moment this list was prepared and I endeavor to maintain them in stock and to keep this website updated. However, my stock changes daily and (to paraphrase) good stamps are hard to find. If you are willing to accept a different grade or quality if an item is temporarily out of stock, please let me know when ordering (add a comment at the conclusion of the shopping cart process) and please also let me know of any alternates you will consider. Furthermore, new stamps are being put in stock every day; if the quality and/or condition you are seeking is not listed, please send your want list.
This list surely includes a few errors; I will be grateful if you would inform me of any errors you see. Stamps "missing" from the list simply might not be included because they are not in stock or are singles which are normally only listed in full sets. Just the same if it seems like something obvious (and not a single from a set) is missing, please let me know. If you can offer for sale items that are not listed here, please do so; I especially need sources of recent used complete sets. Prices are subject to typographical error and change, but I will do my best to honor the listed prices to the extent of available stock.
TIP: These price list pages are in Scott number order. To most easily navigate these stamp price list pages, use the "drop down" menu located above this text (and at the bottom of every page). You can also hover over the numbered page links and read the name of the page in the bottom status bar of your browser.
Scott #1 (Facit #1II, AFA #2b) [1852 2 RBS dark blue, Typographed Burelage, Thiele Printing] Used with VF appearance, with four ample to large margins, but with a sealed tear "hidden" under the "1" of the bold #1 numeral cancellation. I suspect that the sealed tear was actually caused by the pressure of the "1" part of the canceler. Attractive and fresh with nicely contrasting dark ink color and white paper. This is a very reasonably priced example of a scarce stamp that is missing from most collections. Accompanied by a Jay Smith photo certificate with lifetime guarantee. Facit 2024 value SEK 11,000 ($1050 2/2025) and AFA 2023 value DKK 9000 ($1300 2/2025).

2 Dark Red Brown, Facit #2II AFA #1Ia [1851 4 RBS Thiele Print I (1852) with typographed burelage] Used VF with two clear margins and two huge margins. Expert handstamp on reverse: "I OSPER BPP" indicating Thiele I printing, identified by Horst Osper, accredited by the BPP 1991-2005. Dark red-brown color, with unusually strong burelage for this printing. Neat #1 numeral cancellation. A fresh and attractive example.

2 Intense Red Brown, Facit #2II AFA #1Ia [1851 4 RBS Thiele Print I (1852) with typographed burelage] Used VF with four ample margins. Intense red-brown color, with a blurred impression, and with unusually strong burelage for this printing. Excellent #78 (VORDINGBORG) numeral cancellation. The color and appearance of this example is quite unusual! A fresh and attractive example.

2a [1851 4 RBS -- First Printing -- First Danish Stamp! "Ferslew" Print with engraved burelage] Facit #2I in LIGHT RED BROWN. Used XF with four large to very large margins. The impression of this stamp is unusual because in the nearly-solid center around the crown, the impression has a wavy-line appearance because of the engraved burelage. The typical mute cancel also shows the wavy-line impression. The vast majority of examples of the Ferslew printing (i.e. with engraved burelage) are Chocolate Brown, however, this example is quite exceptional with a Light Red Brown color. Very attractive with delicate color and great overall appearance!

2b YELLOW BROWN, Facit #2IVa, AFA #1IIIa [1851 4 RBS Thiele Print III (1854) with typographed burelage] Used XF with four large to huge margins. AFA-listed PLATE VARIETY "short horizontal line in top right margin outside of frame line" from Plate IV, Position 6 (DKK 200 premium value). Fresh color and attractive overall appearance, with lightly struck numeral cancellation (looks like it might be "5"). A very nice example.

2b, Facit #2IVa, AFA #1IIIb [1854 4 RBS Thiele III printing, in Yellow Brown] Used with VF+ with four ample to large margins. This is an interesting color shade which is on the orangish or peachy side of yellow brown, but with a pastel cast to it -- an unusual shade! However, the most exciting aspect of this stamp is the #172 (Marne; in SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN, now in Germany) 3-ring numeral cancellation, well-struck and almost perfectly centered. This number only exists (on 4 RBS stamps) on the light-colored 4 RBS stamps (Scott #2b color range; Thiele III colors) and even then it is VERY SCARCE. The #172 cancellation device was not issued until 1 February 1855; the light-colored 4 RBS stamps were first issued in March 1854 but were already replaced in May 1854 by the 4 sk (dotted spandrel) stamp. Thus very few examples of this stamp saw late use in this town. The DAKA 1999 value was DKK 1800 (9/2024 US$270) but that was a long time ago and the DAKA publisher (since deceased) had personally told me that he put low values on scarce items such as this, that he wanted to buy. The AFA Specialized 2002 Catalog (the most recent edition that had priced listings for the Schleswig cancellations) value was DKK 2500 (9/2024 US$375). The 2024 Facit Classic Catalog value is SEK 3000 (9/2024 US$300), but this is superior quality. An outstanding example of a key 3-ring numeral cancellation on the widely-collected 4 RBS stamps.

2b, Facit #2IVd, AFA #1IIId [1854 4 RBS Thiele III printing, in Olive Brown] Used with XF centering with four large to huge margins. With Superb #62 (Sakskøbing) 3-ring numeral cancellation, wonderfully-struck and almost perfectly centered. A beautiful example of the stamp and of the cancellation -- superior quality in all respects!

2b YELLOW BROWN, Facit #2IVa, AFA #1IIIa [1851 4 RBS Thiele Print III (1854) with typographed burelage] Used XF with four large to huge margins. There is tiny bend in the lower right corner, visible only from the reverse and mentioned only for complete accuracy. Remarkably fresh color and very crisp and detailed impression from a freshly cleaned plate, with very attractive overall appearance. Very lightly struck numeral cancellation (I am guessing "129" but perhaps not). A very nice example!

6 Type 1, Grayish Violet, Facit #(6c), AFA #Ic [1857 16 skilling, Dotted Spandrels] Used VF with large to very large margins and neat #1 numeral cancellations. The AFA "I" designation indicates that the dots in the upper right posthorn are not freestanding, but are connected to the lower edge of the posthorn. The color is naturally light; it is not faded. An attractive example. Though this color is the scarcer possibility, it is priced as the most basic version.
