Finland: Stamps: Scott 16-24 -- 1875 Perf 11 4-Numerals
Scott numbers have been given for these listings. If you would prefer to examine the stamps before purchasing, or you are any seeking stamps (or any condition or any quality) not listed here, please send your want list using your choice of Scott or Facit numbers.
Unless there is a 6-digit item number in the left-most column, the images shown in this section are standard images of the issues from my image library; they are presented to show the designs of the stamp issues and not to show the specific individual stamps being offered. The centering of the stamps in the images is usually Superb or VF quality; again these are not images of the individual stamps being offered. Most early stamps had multiple printings, thus color shades vary greatly; the colors in the images are random printings/colors. If there is a 6-digit item number in the left-most column, the image is of the actual item being offered.
All the listed conditions and qualities were in stock at the moment this list was prepared and I endeavor to maintain them in stock and to keep this website updated. However, my stock changes daily and (to paraphrase) good stamps are hard to find. If you are willing to accept a different grade or quality if an item is temporarily out of stock, please let me know when ordering (add a comment at the conclusion of the shopping cart process) and please also let me know of any alternates you will consider. Furthermore, new stamps are being put in stock every day; if the quality and/or condition you are seeking is not listed, please send your want list.
The publication of this list is a "first effort" in quite a long time. It surely includes a few errors; I will be grateful if you would inform me of any errors. Stamps "missing" from the list simply might not be included because they are not in stock or are singles which are normally only listed in full sets. Just the same if it seems like something obvious (and not a single from a set) is missing, please let me know. If you can offer for sale items that are not listed here, please do so; I especially need sources of pre-1930 mint (hinged or never hinged) stamps and recent used complete sets. Prices are subject to typographical error and change, but I will do my best to honor the listed prices to the extent of available stock.
TIP: These price list pages are in Scott number order. To most easily navigate these stamp price list pages, use the "drop down" menu located above this text (and at the bottom of every page). You can also hover over the numbered page links and read the name of the page in the bottom status bar of your browser.
The stamps of Scott #17-24 have exceptional quality criteria and descriptions due to their method of production. The centering normally varies greatly and the size of the stamps themselves varies greatly.
VF: Well centered within whatever the size of the stamp paper. Either margins all around or perforations just touching one side if otherwise the stamp is of superior appearance. F-VF: Fairly well centered, but off in one direction. Perforations may be just touching on two sides or cutting on one side if appearance is otherwise nice. Fine: Centering off in two directions. Perforations can touch or cut the design. Average: Perforations cut the design on two sides.

17 Dark Gray, Facit #12Sf [1875 2 penni 4-Numeral, Perf 11 (this color 1879)] Used with XF centering and neat "grid of dots" cork/carved cancellation. Discoloration on reverse from ancient album mounting; does not affect the front. Interesting plate variety: "White spot to upper left of upper right 2". Though the different colors of this stamp do not list any premium values, in my experience this Dark Gray is least often seen and especially not in such nice quality. Very attractive!

18 [1875 5 penni 4-Numeral, Perf 11] Used with VF-XF centering and boxed "ANK" (Swedish for received or arrival) cancellation. Would be XF or Superb if not for an extremely wide left margin. Oversize stamp all around. Brilliant Yellow-Orange color. Very attractive example!

18, Facit #13SC1a Dark Yellow Orange [1875 5 penni 4-Numeral, Perf 11] Used with Average centering, but one short perforation. Very neat, light blue, arc-style (BO)RGA cancellation that appears to be dated (18 or 28) January 1876 (this first printing/color was first available 21 November 1875). Typical centering for this early printing. An attractive example of this distinctive, scarcer color. Facit 2024 value SEK 300.

19 Dark Bluish Green on Thin Paper, Facit #14Sc (Bluish) [1875 8 penni 4-Numeral, Perf 11] Used with VF centering and neat town (partial ABO 2-ring) cancellation. The color difference is subtle, but this is the Dark Bluish Green. The paper is always thin on this color, but this example is unusually bright white. An excellent, attractive example.

Scott #19 Dark Green on Thick Paper, Facit #14Sdz [1875 8 penni 4-Numeral, Perf 11] Used with F-VF++ centering and neat, crisp carved / cork "circle of lines" cancellation. The color difference is subtle, but this is the Dark Green, rather than the more common Dark Bluish Green. The paper is called thick by the catalogers; that description is perhaps more relative than absolute, but it is quite a bit thicker than the normally thin paper of this issue. An outstanding example with great color, excellent perforations for this issue, an interesting cancellation, and wonderful overall appearance.

19 [1875 8 penni LIGHT BLUISH GREEN 4-Numeral, Perf 11] Used with Fine centering and light cancellation. Looks nice, but has crease and thin. This is the first color/printing of the 8 penni stamp; only 70,000 were printed of the total 450,000 8 penni stamps. Because it is such a distinct color I have (just now) pointed out to the Scott editors that I think it should be listed in the Scott Classic catalog. Facit SEK 650. Offered at a very low price.

19 Yellow Green, Facit #14Sb [1875 8 penni 4-Numeral, Perf 11] Mint with F-VF centering, but very heavily hinged, small thin spot, couple discolored spots, and one perf slightly shorter. Despite the problems, it is an attractive example of a scarce stamp (2020 Facit SEK 2000 = $240 3/2021) that is seldom offered either Mint or Used. Great color and sharp printing impression. If not for the problems this would easily fetch $210!

Scott 16-24 -- 1875 Perf 11 4-Numerals continued ...
21b Light Prussian Blue (Facit #16SC1a) [1875 20 penni 4-Numeral, Perf 11] The Prussian Blue printing, the first printing of the 20 penni, exists in a range of color intensity. The handbook on the 1875 issues (by Heikki Reinikainen, Jussi Murtosaari, and Jeffrey Stone) supplies a color intensity range for stamps of this printing of "3-7" on a 1-10 scale. This example is at or very near the least intense / lightest end of that range and are sometimes confused for later printings. Such examples are quite hard to find. Used F-VF with a partial WIB(ORG) [Lost Territories] arc-style cancellation dated 6 November; the year date is not visible, but virtually all examples of the first printing were used by the end of 1875. Very attractive; a great example of this color.

23 Dark Carmine [1875 32 penni 4-Numerals, Perf 11] Used F-VF centered with large margins and light cancellation, but with additional orange-colored cancellation or marking on the lower left corner; probably a transit or receiving mark from a foreign mail cover. 23a Dull Light Rose (Facit #18Saxx) [1875 32 penni 4-Numeral, Perf 11] Used with F-VF centering. This printing naturally has extremely thin (translucent) paper, but this example additionally has a touch of gum-soak staining (fairly common on this printing because of the extremely thin paper), making it even more translucent. Tiny blue corner cancel. This stamp is misidentified or missing in most collections. Otherwise would be $85.

24 [1877 1 mark 4-Numeral, Perf 11] Used with F-VF+ centering and neat, light cancellation. Strong color and excellent perforations. Without any defects or repairs -- quite unusual for this stamp. A very attractive example of a scarce stamp -- especially in nice quality -- that is missing from most collections.
