Scott #15 [1869 17 öre BLUISH GRAY Reclining Lion] Used with VF centering and very light cancellation, but with very expertly repaired lower right corner (most people would not find the repair). Otherwise completely genuine and very attractive. The vast majority of examples of Scott #15 offered these days are either defective, altered/faked, or repaired, or are just not pretty. This example is well centered, neatly canceled, and has very fresh color -- and is very attractive. The 2024 Facit value is SEK 6,500 and the 2025 Scott value is $800. If not for the repaired corner, an example with this appearance would easily fetch $700. ACTUAL item. |

15 [1866 17 öre GRAY Lion] Used with F-VF appearance, but has been reperforated (though not repaired). Very well centered STOCKHOLM cancellation and an additional red partial "(N)EW YO(RK)" transit/receiving postmark. While this stamp was typically used on mail to other countries, use to the U.S. is extremely rare. This would otherwise be about $600 for this centering with normal cancellation. Quite attractive and offered at a very low price for such a nice looking example and considering the rarity of the postmark. ACTUAL item. |
