Sweden: Bargains: Stamps - Black Local Post and Brown Provisional - Scott #LX1-2
These bargain-priced stamps are attractive, but most have lesser centering or perhaps hidden flaws. You can save a tremendous amount of money when you add such stamps to your collection. Each stamp is one of a kind, so please let me know if I may substitute a different example (that looks as good or better, for the same cost) if the stamp you order has sold. If you have any doubts, all are available for approval viewing. This is just a small sampling, thus if you are seeking stamps of this quality and price level from any of the Scandinavian countries, just send along your want list -- I will be happy to send bargains on approval. Scott numbers have been used unless otherwise stated.

LX1, Facit #6B (see new Facit numbering) [1856 non-denominated (1 skilling / 3 öre) black "Local", 1859 Plate] Mint Fine, but without gum and with some defects. Minor aging on some perforations, hidden small tear, thins. The perforations are typically irregular as usual, made by the correct so-called "1855" perforator tool that was becoming worn out and was not replaced until 1865. (The perforation 14 reprints were made in 1869-1871 with the new, better "1865" perforator tool.) Most examples of this stamp are defective. A reasonable looking example! Facit 2020 value SEK 6000 for with gum, however gummed examples are quite scarce.

LX2, Facit #13a [1862 non-denominated (3 öre) olive brown "Local"] Mint F-VF, but without gum and with a very small thin spot at top center. This example is unusually fresh looking with white, high quality paper -- unusual for the handmade paper still in use at that time. The perforations are unusually nice and NOT as irregular as usual, but they are still made by the correct so-called "1855" perforator tool that was becoming worn out and was not replaced until 1865. (The perforation 14 reprints were made in 1871 with the new, better "1865" perforator tool; also the reprints are yellow-brown.) Most examples of this stamp are defective and certainly not this attractive. Especially fresh appearance! Facit 2020 value SEK 5500 for with gum, however gummed examples are quite scarce.

O9 [1874 30 öre brown Official, Perf 14] Used with F-VF+ centering and nice color, but has a crease and one corner perf has been improved. An attractive example of a stamp that is much scarcer than the catalog values suggest. Otherwise would be $55!
