Though there are many Belgian railway parcel stamps, it is unusual to find them on the "cards" (usually paper) on which they were used. Rather than putting stamp directly on packages, the European method was to put the stamps on these cards which then accompanied the package and upon delivery served as the receipt which the post office would retain. If there were other services, such as "cash on delivery", the card served as the transmittal and bookkeeping mechanism for such payments. Belgium is a bilingual country, thus some of the cards forms are printed bilingually all on one side, while others are printed with each language on a side. The amount of postage depends upon the weight, other potential services (insurance, cod, fragile items, etc.), and perhaps distance. There are many variations in the card forms themselves; watch for obvious differences, but also differences in the printer text line which usually includes the printing date, etc. In addition to the stamps and the cards, many collectors seek the different rectangular railway cancellations.
