Foreign cancellations on Icelandic stamps are largely the result of mail handed directly to fishing boats and small cargo ships or letters written by sailors on those vessels. When the next port of call was another country (typically Denmark, Norway, and the United Kingdom) the postmark of that country was applied.

196 [1935 5 aur Jochumsson] Used F-VF with nearly complete "(GR)IMSBY LINCS. / 2" 28 March 1938 cancellation (applied on incoming ship mail likely posted at sea on an Icelandic fishing trawler). Also faint part of another strike (also British style). Grimsby is a small port city on the east central coast of England and is seldom seen on Icelandic stamps.
