Scott # 130 [1922 "5 aur." surcharge on 16 aur Christian IX] Used with VF centering. With partial (FLAT)EY bridge cancellation, type B1c. Based on the "EY" ending, the ornamentation in the bottom ring, and the B1 bridge style (both bridge lines fully cross the circle and vertical bars are present in the center areas), FLATEY is the ONLY possible town for this cancellation. A "22" year date is showing; this stamp was issued 20 January 1922. Non-Reykjavik (and non-other major town) cancellations are VERY UNUSUAL on any of the provisional surcharges. An ordinary example of this stamp with this centering would be $34.50, but "99%" of those are the usual Reykjavik or other larger-town cancellations. While the catalog value of this FLATEY postmark is not high, it is rarely seen on the provisional surcharges. ACTUAL item. |

42 [1902 40 aur Christian IX] Used with Superb centering and substantially complete FÁSKRUÐSFJÖRÐUR (Type B1b) 29 August 1918 bridge-style cancellation. While this is not a "scarce" cancellation, it is seldom seen so complete on individual small-size stamps. Also because this cancel device started in use in 1906, it is quite unusual on the Christian IX stamps. The cancel strike is sideways, but this is the only way that the full town name and full date could possibly fit on the stamp! An outstanding example of stamp that can be quite hard to find in such nice quality and also very hard to find with nice small town cancellations. ACTUAL item. |

146 [1925 20 aur National Library] Used with Superb centering, though paper slightly aged. VF strike of FÁSKRUÐSFJÖRÐUR B1b 192x town bridge type cancellation dated 23 November 192x. While this was a small town/village, the device was in use 1906-1967 though well-struck, readable examples are really very unusual. ACTUAL item. |
