Methods and Topics in Postal History: Nordic Mails and Routes (DuBois, ed., 2001; Proceedings of Postal History Symposium at Nordia 2001) Despite the off-putting title, this is an extremely interesting and useful book for cover and cancel collectors and postal historians. Topics: US-Sweden Mail before 1873; Slesvig Plebiscite of 1920; Danish Cancels; Denmark and US Postal Connection 1850-1922; DWI Classic Stamps on Covers; Norwegian Mail During Napoleonic War 1807-1816; Greenland Postal History; Swedish Express Mail 1920-1970; Danish/UN Fieldpost in the Balkans 1992-2001; Swedish Mail to U.S. 1875-1907. Important articles with much information simply not published anywhere else. Out of print; I believe that the few copies I have are the last available anywhere. |

Marks of Passage (Original Edition and Supplement in One Volume) (Van der Linden, 1993, 1998; Marques de Passage) Remarkable work cataloging 1661-1875 handstamps used to mark the origin, transit, receipt, and rates of early letters, including many used on mail to/from Scandinavia. Most marks pictured; rarity factors. In French; the primary reference on the subject. Originally issued in 1993 and then in 1998 a supplement was issued. This volume combines both parts into a single volume (at a lower cost). |

Folded Typewriter Postcards (Bell, 2008) Subtitled "Effective Economical Commercial Communications -- Types, Usages, Rarity, Development, Growth and Decline", this book is a fascinating study of a special type of post cards that were designed to be typed (message AND address) on one side, then the address portion folded and glued to show on the other side. Used primarily in Europe, they were used in the Scandinavian countries; author reports Scandinavian usages as "Scarce" to "Rare". Well written, very interesting, and packed full of useful info on this subject and broader postal history. 115 pages perfect bound, entirely in English and in FULL COLOR. Only 200 printed! |
