#18181 Norwegian Student Internees 1943-1945 and Their Postal History. (Lordahl, 2007; Norske Studenter Internert 1943-1945) In 1943 university students in Norway protested the advantages given to Nazi party members at the University of Oslo. 1100 students were arrested; some were released, but 652 were sent to Germany for so-called re-education. This 93-page, Norwegian text only book documents their story and the postal history of the mail sent by and to them. Remarkably well illustrated and includes a list of all 652 students so that you may properly identify student covers. Includes all related aspects of prisoner mail, camp markings, Red Cross connections, censorship markings and labels, etc. A fascinating and virtually unknown subject.

#18106 German Navy Feltpost in Norway 1940-45 (Larsson-Fedde, 1995; Den Tyske Marinens Feltposttjeneste i Norge 1940-1945) Terrific new listing of Naval Feltpost numbers, names of units, & locations. #18177 German Prisoners of War in Norway 1945-1947 and Their Prisoner Mail (Fedde, Lordahl, Torstad, 2005) This fascinating subject has seen virtually no coverage in philatelic (or other) literature. At the end of WWII, there were about 500,000 foreign citizens in Norway, about 300,000 of them German (or Austrian) military personnel. This 142 large-format page book details some of the history of the movement of these people and the extensive postal history, censorship, etc., related to their captivity and repatriation. COMPLETELY IN ENGLISH with many illustrations, including original documents, and extensive detail. This book represents the important final chapter for Norway in WWII.

While this is a history of the post office, not a postal history book, it will be of great interest to collectors of Norwegian postal history. Though the text is in Norwegian, it is beautifully illustrated and handsomely produced. This book is offered at a price that must be far below the original production cost.

Norwegian Local Post Catalog (Pihl, 1963; Norges Byposter og annen norsk lokalpost) The classic catalog and handbook of Norwegian local post stamps. Though a 2005 catalog has updated values and information, there is a huge amount of information in the Pihl 1963 catalog that is not found anywhere else. This is still needed by any collector of Norwegian local post stamps. Original examples are quite scarce and always have significant binding wear.
