These listings are just a random tiny fraction of the thousands of Danish cancellations that I have in stock. | Star cancels are so named because they contain a star design in the center. (Later the stars were removed and also new cancels were made without the center star -- those are the "starless" type called "uds" for the Danish term "udslebne".) These types of postmarks were used at small places that did not have post offices, such as tiny railway stations or mailbag pick-up points, general stores on rural mail routes, etc. Almost by definition they were used at places with small populations and thus many are scarce. They have been popularly collected and cataloged for many years. The current primary reference is "Stjernestempler", available from me. The cancel numbers shown are from that catalog. I have a large stock of both star and starless (uds) cancellations and am happy to send approvals. I cannot even begin to list all that I have; this listing is just a random tiny fraction of what I have stock.
