M8, Facit #F8 [1963 Military] NH Superb. Soldiers were allocated only 5 stamps each for use during the training maneuvers for which these stamps were issued; the stamps were apparently supplied to the soldiers in advance and then could be used by family members, etc., to send letters to the soldiers. While this stamp is usually found with VF centering, perfectly centered examples such as this are quite scarce. REPRESENTATIVE image of stamp design. |

Scott #M8, Facit #F8 [1963 Military] Used with VF centering and with a very neat, fully-dated, HELSINKI / HELSINGFORS 2 October 1963 cancellation. Soldiers were allocated only 5 stamps each for use during the training maneuvers for which these stamps were issued; the stamps were apparently supplied to the soldiers in advance and then could be used by family members, etc., to send letters TO the soldiers. The stamp was valid only from 26 September through 5 October; this example was used in the proper period. This example is much nicer, and more nicely canceled, than most of the (very few) Used examples that I have had in the last 52 years. ACTUAL item. |
