APO 5 (Baldurshagi) hand cancel "JUL / 12 / A.M. / 1942" with "A.P.O. 5" at the bottom of the postmark. Sent free by surface mail by a private with the "Co. G 10th Inf." and with black rectangular #00950 censor handstamp. APO 5 is somewhat scarce, but this postmark (with the APO number at the bottom) is very scarce. The APO started in April 1942 and already by at least July 22 (I have seen an example) the APO number had been cut out of the device. Outstanding appearance. ACTUAL item. |

APO 5 (Baldurshagi) [per return address] hand cancel "JUL / 22 / A.M. / 1942" with the APO number cut out of "A.P.O. 5" at the bottom of the postmark. Sent free by surface mail. Self-censored by a lieutenant with the "Hq 3th Bn. 10th Inf." and with magenta round #0095 censor handstamp. APO 5 is somewhat scarce. This 22 July example was struck very soon after the number was cut out (I have seen a 12 July example still with the number). Superb appearance! ACTUAL item. |
