Scott #208B, 226 pair, 229 [1945 1 kr Geysir / Geyser Perf 14; 1943 35 aur Fish; 1939 2 kr Viking, Perf 14] (VF) on 7 June 1946 POSTAL MONEY ORDER TRANSFER FORM FOR WIRED (TELEGRAPHED) PAYMENT in the amount of 1000 kronur from NORDFJORDUR with bridge cancellation, to [Solbergi ???, no postmark]. The stamps are on the reverse -- there was no location for them on the front. While this bridge cancellation is not highly-valued in Facit, any such item from a village is remarkably scarce with a fully readable bridge cancellation. The franking correctly pays the 370 aur rate [14 Nov 1942 - 30 Sep 1947] of 100 aur for the first 1000 kr and 30 aur for each additional 1000 kr or part thereof (100 + 9x30). The lower left corner was snipped off, but I have been told that this was officially done as a "status control" method. Wonderfully fresh quality of a very unusual use. While MAILED postal money order forms from this era are quite scarce, TELEGRAPH / WIRED postal money order forms are "rare" in my experience. This is the only such item I have had in 52 years; it came from an exhibition collection.
