117 [1920 15 aur violet King Christian X] NEVER HINGED with XF centering, but the gum in one corner is aged more than the other areas of gum (from being in an old stockbook made of the wrong materials). The stamp is beautiful, with wonderful color and freshness on the front, and otherwise has not been hinged. Otherwise NH of this centering would be $185.

Numeral cancel 6 F-VF on Scott #119 F-VF+ (issued 1922). #6 in 1903-1922 and 1924-1930 period (Mosfell) and 1923-1924 period (Sel). This is the only numeral cancel 6 example that I have recorded having since around 2000 when I started keeping such records. Regardless of exact date of use, numeral 6 is quite scarce (Facit 2022 SEK 400-500 for ordinary example).

Scott #125 [1920 50 aur Christian X] Used with F-VF centering. Revenue (tollur, customs duty) use with random needle holes cancellation and postal cancellation. Some of the Icelandic postage stamps in current use between 15 April 1920 and 31 December 1921 are known bearing postal-type cancellations and additional "sewing machine and needle" cancellations. Such stamps were used as revenue stamps, to pay import duties on packages coming in through the mail, as precursors to Tollur-canceled stamps. They are very scarce because most were discarded by collectors as being "damaged". Most uses are of high-value stamps (as is true of Tollur cancels as well). One can find examples of sewing machine cancels as either randomly positioned holes (usually canceled before 29 June 1920) or in straight lines (usually from 29 June 1920 onward, when the post office acquired a sewing machine to do the canceling). Very often the holes are not visible from the front of the stamp. See the article in the Resources section for more information. This stamp is only one of seven stamp issues that I have recorded having in 52 years (as of 10/2025) with the sewing machine or random needle holes cancellation. This example is the FIRST AND ONLY example of such a use of a Christian X stamp that I have recorded having! The "holes" cancellations started 15 April 1920. This 50 aur stamp was issued 5 June 1920. The custom office acquired a sewing machine to make straight lines of holes around 29 June 1920; after that date random holes cancellations are rarely found. Thus it is likely that most or all of the random needle holes cancellations on this 50 aur stamp issue occurred only between 5 June and 29 June 1920 -- less than a month! An excellent example of a "rare" revenue use of this stamp! Interestingly, this 50 aur stamp is remarkably scarce with a boxed "Tollur" revenue cancellation, but here is the use for the same purpose with a random holes cancellation.
