Scott #67 [1909 1 kr King Haakon, Second Design] Mint, original gum, lightly hinged, with Fine+ centering. This centering is a little better than usual for this particular stamp (VF examples are "rare"). Wonderfully fresh and attractive with strong color, crisp printing impression, and excellent (always irregular on this stamp) and complete perforations. A handsome example of a scarce stamp (especially in Mint condition, but also in Used condition) that is missing from most collections.

67 [1909 1 kr King Haakon, Die II] Used with centering that is technically F-VF+, but it has four clear margins which is unusual for this small-margined stamp. Neat 1910 parcel cancel (as was normally used). Unusually strong, deep color. Much nicer than usually found!

Scott #68 [1910 1-1/2 kr King Haakon, Die II] Used with F-VF centering and neat, partial circular cancellation strikes (not parcel cancels). Very attractive example of a very scarce stamp, with a remarkably crisp and clear impression. NO defects of any kind. This is usually among the last two or three stamps most collectors need to complete their Norway collection! (Scott 2025 value $425!)

Scott #118 [1926 20 øre "plum" (deep red violet) Standing Lion, Typographed, Sans-Serif Lettering and Without line between ØRE and POST] NEVER HINGED original gum with F-VF+ centering. One short perforation tooth. Wonderfully fresh, with terrific color, "pristine" never hinged gum, and though one tooth is short, the perforations are still unusually nice for this scarcer stamp. This stamp was only in use for a year and had a relatively small printing quantity; it was then replaced, in exactly one year to the day, with the red-colored 20 øre stamp of the same design. Mint supplies of this plum-colored stamp were consumed in normal postal use; it is likely that collectors and dealers did not put aside examples because they had not expected it to be replaced so quickly... but then it was too late! This is the second-scarcest NH stamp of this set (after the 35 øre olive-brown), but in my experience, nicely centered NH examples of this stamp are actually harder to find. This stamp is "very scarce" in NH condition. The Facit Classic 2024 NH value is SEK 1000 [about US$100 6/2026]. My price takes into account that one perforation tooth.

Scott #118 [1926 20 øre "plum" (deep red violet) Standing Lion, Typographed, Sans-Serif Lettering and Without line between ØRE and POST] BLOCK OF FOUR, Mint WITHOUT GUM. F-VF centering and with strong perforations (the block has not been folded and does not have any perforation separations. Very attractive with terrific color, nice centering, and excellent perforations for this stamp. This stamp was only in use for a year and had a relatively small printing quantity; it was then replaced, in exactly one year to the day, with the red-colored 20 øre stamp of the same design. 123 [1927 35 øre olive-brown Standing Lion, typographed] NEVER HINGED with F-VF+ centering, but with a one short perforation. The 35 øre olive-brown is the scarcest (Mint, Hinged or NH) stamp in this definitive issue -- it is a key stamp missing from many collections, especially in NH condition. There were ten printings of this stamp resulting in several obvious differences in color and gum. This example is Greenish Olive with White Smooth Gum. NH examples are quite hard to find. Facit 2022 NH value SEK 3200 [about $380 4/2022].

Scott #123 [1927 35 øre olive-brown Standing Lion, Typographed] NEVER HINGED original gum with F-VF++ centering. Wonderfully fresh, with great color, extremely good perforations for this stamp, very nice centering, and with gum as "pristine" as the day it was sold at the post office. The 35 øre olive-brown is the scarcest Mint (Hinged or NH) stamp in this definitive issue. The supplies of it were exhausted in normal postal use and it was replaced in 1934 with a violet version. It seems that about the only NH examples that survived must be from blocks that remained unbroken. This is the key Mint / NH stamp from this era and it is missing from many collections, especially in NH condition. There were ten printings of this stamp resulting in several obvious differences in color and gum. This example is a Medium Brownish Olive with Whitish Shiny Gum. Such nice examples are quite hard to find. The Facit Classic 2024 NH value is SEK 3200 [about US$320 6/2026].

Scott #142 [1929 50 øre "POST" Overprint on Postage Due, Horizontal (normal) Watermark] NEVER HINGED, original gum, with F-VF centering. SHIFTED OVERPRINT VARIETY. The overprint is shifted to the right, with the bar just touching the perforations. Furthermore, the overprint is SLIGHTLY TILTED. Generally speaking in philately, such variations are not unusual on overprinted stamps. However, the overprints of this 1929 set, re-purposing no-longer-used postage due stamps, were usually remarkably well made, with very little variation in positioning and very rarely any overprinting at even a slight angle. An attractive and very seldom encountered variety. The Facit Classic 2024 value for NORMAL NH examples is SEK 235.

149 Shifted Overprint Variety, Facit #176bv, NK #176vo1, Orange-Yellow [1929 "14 ØRE 14" Surcharge on "2 SKILL 2"] Used with typical Average centering a nice, light cancellation. To qualify to be this variety, the overprint has to be at least 1 mm above the "2 SKILL 2", leaving the original denomination completely clear -- this certainly qualifies. While the overprint on this issue normally shifts around somewhat, usually the reason that the overprint is this far off is because the underlying stamps are so poorly centered, not necessarily that the overprint was shifted. Thus examples of well centered stamps probably do not exist (or are extremely rare) with this shifted overprint variety. Examples with such a strong shift as this one are remarkably hard to find. Facit 2024 value SEK "from 400". [From the Hamerschlag collection.]
