32 Medium Blue [1877 12 öre Ringtype, Perf 13] NEVER HINGED with F-VF++ centering. Wonderfully fresh with perfect perforations. Interesting plate varieties with damaged bottom frame line at lower left corner and with blue spot outside right frame line. The hand-mixed and hand-applied gum of the different printings varies greatly in appearance, thickness, and how it air-dried as the sheets were laid out to dry; this example has thick, fairly smooth, naturally yellowish gum with thicker areas. An excellent example of a workhorse stamp that is scarce NH with such nice centering.

32 Medium Blue [1877 12 öre Ringtype, Perf 13] NEVER HINGED with F-VF centering. Wonderfully fresh with perfect perforations. Unusually clear and sharp impression. The hand-mixed and hand-applied gum of the different printings varies greatly in appearance, thickness, and how it air-dried as the sheets were laid out to dry; this example has thick, fairly smooth, naturally yellowish gum. A very nice example of a workhorse stamp that is scarce in NH condition!

32 Dark Blue [1877 12 öre Ringtype, Perf 13] NEVER HINGED with F-VF+ centering. Wonderfully fresh with perfect perforations, though there is a small bend (not a crease) that is visible only from the reverse. Unusually white paper, thus very high contrast with the dark blue ink. The Dark Blue printings are generally much scarcer and seem to be especially scarce in NH condition.

32 Dark Blue [1877 12 öre Ringtype, Perf 13] NEVER HINGED with F-VF centering. Wonderfully fresh with perfect perforations, though there is a light bend (not a crease) that is visible only from the reverse. The perforations of this example have unusually narrow, sharp teeth -- initially making it look like the Perf 14 stamp. The Dark Blue printings are generally much scarcer and seem to be especially scarce in NH condition.

32 [1877 12 öre Ringtype, Perf 13] Used Fine, with attractive, though light, well centered, and nearly complete SHIP MAIL CANCELLATION: "ÅNGBÅTS PXP No 58" 14 June 1881. While route 58 operated from 1875 into 1928, it was used on two different ships and 12 different route variations -- during 1880-1882, it was used aboard the ship "Oskarshamn" on the route "Oskarshamn-Kalmar, Oskarshamn-Verkebäck (including Öland). Facit Postal IX (2015) values all routes before 1888 at SEK 500. Scarce and attractive!

Scott #37, Facit #37 [1877 En Riksdaler Perforation 13 Ring Type] NEVER HINGED BLOCK OF FOUR with VF centering, perfect perforations, bright color, perfect never hinged gum, and wonderful freshness. The block has never been folded; the perforations are very strong; there are no separations. Accompanied by a 2002 Helena Obermüller Wilén "HOW" color certificate stating (in English [sic]): "Unused with original gum. Never hinged (**). The stamps are genuine and forms a bloc of four. No faults. No repairs. A very fresh and nice bloc of an unusual stamp. Very fine - Extra fine quality." HOW is the premier certificate to have for this stamp. I am amused that HOW referred to (singles of) this stamp as "unusual". This is the rarest regularly-issued stamp of this era! In NH condition, SINGLES of this stamp have a Facit 2024 value of SEK 45,000. Facit does not provide any price information for NH blocks of this stamp, but for Hinged 4-blocks Facit states a value of "5x" the single stamp value (which surely does not adequately reflect their rarity). Applying the same standard and NOT adding any further block-premium for NH condition, one can extrapolate a Facit value of at least SEK 225,000 or around US$ 22,500 for this block. This would certainly be a key showpiece in a collection or exhibit of this series. Most recently this stamp was in the John A. Haggstrom collection; he acquired it in 2003 Nutmeg auction of a wonderful Sweden collection. In 50 years, I have never been able to offer a NH single of this stamp, to say nothing of a block! An extraordinary showpiece of outstanding quality and rarity.
