Interesting plate varieties with damaged bottom frame line at lower left corner and with blue spot outside right frame line. The hand-mixed and hand-applied gum of the different printings varies greatly in appearance, thickness, and how it air-dried as the sheets were laid out to dry; this example has thick, fairly smooth, naturally yellowish gum with thicker areas. An excellent example of a workhorse stamp that is scarce NH with such nice centering. ACTUAL item. |

Wonderfully fresh with perfect perforations, though there is a small bend (not a crease) that is visible only from the reverse. Unusually white paper, thus very high contrast with the dark blue ink. The hand-mixed and hand-applied gum of the different printings varies greatly in appearance, thickness, and how it air-dried as the sheets were laid out to dry; this example has thick, fairly smooth, naturally yellowish gum with thicker areas. An excellent example of a workhorse stamp that is scarce NH with such nice centering. The Dark Blue printings are generally much scarcer and seem to be especially scarce in NH condition. The perforations of this example have unusually narrow, sharp teeth -- initially making it look like the Perf 14 stamp.
