Scott #50 [1891 7 kopek Russian Design with Rings] Used with F-VF centering, with strike of a RUSSIAN CANCELLATION that is a typical cancellation type in use in Russia at that time (but not used in Finland). A few slightly blunted perforations at top. This is a remarkably unusual example of this stamp. Normally we find the normal Russian equivalent stamp (i.e. without the Rings) with normal Russian cancellation, misidentified in a Finland collection. And sometimes we find a normal Russian stamp appropriately used in Finland with Finnish cancellation; that is not "rare". But THIS is "rare": A Finnish stamp canceled in Russia. It could have been that the Finnish stamp was actually (accidentally / incorrectly) used in Russia, or it could be that it was on a cover from Finland to Russia (which should have required a Russian stamp on the cover, not a Finnish stamp) that was accidentally not canceled and thus a Russian postal clerk noticed it and canceled it. Either way, it is an exceptional item! In the last 52 years, I have only had four or five Finnish "Ring" stamps bearing Russian cancellations!
