Norway: Cancellations: By Stamp - Officials 1933-1936
Scott numbers have been used unless otherwise indicated. NK = Norgeskatalogen numbers. Cancellations starting with the letter "Å" and "Ø" are at the end of the alphabet. All these items and much more are available for viewing on approval; please request approvals.
Scott #O12 [1933 10 øre Official, Wide Design, Offset / Lithography] ROUGH PERFORATION VARIETY. Used with VF centering. Extremely small-hole, rough perforations. The rough perforation stamps tend to be hard to find because early collectors often failed to recognize that the rough perforations are a collectible variety and did not retain them. This example is particularly nice with an almost perfectly centered 14 September 1934 OSLO machine cancellation.

Scott #O13a [1937 15 øre Official, Narrow Design, Typographed / Letterpress] Used with VF-XF centering and well-centered, mostly complete, 7 December 1938 KYRK(SÆT)ERØRA bridge-style cancellation. From a small town in TRØNDELAG county, west of Trondheim. The Norgeskatalogen Postal II (2014) cancellation catalog assigns this cancellation a rarity rating of 3, however, any small-town cancellation is "rare" on this particular stamp -- the vast majority of cancellations that I have seen on this stamp are either from Oslo or a few other larger towns/cities. Furthermore, any fully-dated proper-period cancellation is unusual on this particular stamp (genuinely Used is much scarcer than Mint). This is an exceptional example of this stamp -- this the key stamp of the set in properly Used condition and is probably the key Used stamp of all the Norwegian Officials.

Scott #O21 [1933 100 øre Official] VERTICAL PAIR. Used with VF centering, but with a couple small bends. Used multiples (even "just" pairs) of this stamp are quite hard to find. This example is especially interesting because of an unusual (and thematically interesting) postmark: 3 August 1936 "LANDBRUKHØYSKOLEN i ÅS" bridge-style cancellation that is complete on the pair (though at an angle). The cancellation is from the Agricultural High School in Ås, south of Oslo. The Norgeskatalogen Postal II (2014) cancellation catalog assigns this cancellation a rarity rating of 3, but a long-name postmarks are hard to find complete.
