Literature: Scandinavia: Danish West Indies
These gently used books and catalogs are a great way to build your philatelic knowledge and library. All items are used and in at least "good" condition unless otherwise mentioned. I am constantly purchasing philatelic libraries, thus if there is anything you are seeking, please let me know. I guarantee your satisfaction.

Due to the low prices, variations in weight, and different mailing methods, distances, and destinations, shipping cost is additional for items in the Specials Literature listings unless otherwise mentioned. When ordering please include a note in the shopping cart comments section indicating if you prefer faster/costlier or slower/cheaper delivery so that I may more quickly quote the shipping costs and options for you.

Each item is usually one of a kind; orders will be filled in order of receipt. Payment by MasterCard or Visa suggested, but I will hold items for 10 days pending receipt of check if you prefer.

Illustrations of books in the Specials section may show representative images and not the exact item. If you hover your mouse pointer over a picture, you should see a small message box stating if the image is representative or of the exact item.

DWI Mails 1754-1917; Volume II, The Postal Emissions (With Reprint): (Engstrom, 1981) This large volume covers all the stamp issues and postal stationery, with information and background on printing, production, distribution, and use of each issue, with specialized cataloging. This is the definitive reference for DWI stamps and stationery and is a must-have book for any serious collector of DWI. Because the subjects covered are so important, this is the most in-demand volume of the set. INCLUDES OFFICIAL REPRINT (officially sanctioned reprint of DWI #1, printed using the original stamp and burelage plates): Upper right corner block of 25 reprinted stamps (valuable in its own right)! Though pre-owned, this volume is virtually like new, much nicer than often seen.

DWI Mails 1754-1917; Volume III, Postal Services and Special Stamps: (Engstrom, 1982) This fascinating volume covers the essays, proofs, reprints, revenues stamps, shipping company stamps, postmarks / cancellations, postal rates, fakes and forgeries, registered mail, postal forms, Christmas seals, military mail, free franks, soldier mail, transfer of the DWI to the U.S. (U.S. Virgin Islands), and a (1982) price guide for all three volumes. Because of how the books were originally distributed and the wide range of subjects covered (and thus needed by a broader range of potential buyers), this is the scarcest book of the series. It is not uncommon to have to buy an entire set of the three original volumes just to get this volume! Very scarce! Though pre-owned, this volume is virtually like new, much nicer than often seen.

Hagemann: Denmark and Danish West Indies Stamps, Volume 2, Parts 1 and 2: (Hagemann, 1942; Danmarks og Dansk Vestindiens Frimaerker; 1 Del: Danmarks Frimaerker Emissionerne 1864/70; 2 Del: Dansk Vestindiens Frimaerker Indledning og de Klassike Emissioner) Handbook of the Danish 1864-70 issue. Introduction to DWI philately, DWI bibliography, and handbook of the classic (square) DWI stamps. Hardbound. Superb condition, rare so nice. A key reference from one of the most important Danish researchers. (Also #13162)
