275, 280, 283 (VF) on 1947 INSURED cover from OSLO to BERGEN with 110 ore franking on the front and 30 ore on reverse. The stamp on reverse is canceled with an OSLO / KAMPEN "thimble" postmark. The thimble cancels are quite scarce on cover. I suspect the sender put the stamp on reverse as method of "sealing" the envelope. Very nice 1647-1947 issue item - a very collectible issue. 276, 280 [1946 1.5 kr King Haakon and 1947 10 øre Postal Service] (VF) on 25 July 1947 airmail cover to the U.S. with VF strikes of the special 2-ring cancellation "VERDENSKONF. FOR KRISTEN UNGDOM - OSLO" (World Conference of Christian Youth). The 1.5 kr stamp is scarce on envelopes. Including this example, I can only recall having two covers with this postmark in the last 45 years, both non-philatelic to the same person. Important item for religion thematic. ACTUAL item. |

195, 310 (VF) on 25 June 1951 picture post card (Vigeland) from OSLO, to the U.S. with airmail label affixed. However, the 35 øre postage did not pay the airmail rate, thus Norwegian postage due handstamp applied: single-ring, violet "T / 5 / cts.". There is also a violet single-line marking between two lines "Not paid for air mail"; I think this is a Norwegian marking, but am unsure -- note that it is in English. I cannot recall previously seeing that marking. No indication that postage due was collected upon delivery. ACTUAL item. |
