275, 280, 283 (VF) on 1947 INSURED cover from OSLO to BERGEN with 110 ore franking on the front and 30 ore on reverse. The stamp on reverse is canceled with an OSLO / KAMPEN "thimble" postmark. The thimble cancels are quite scarce on cover. I suspect the sender put the stamp on reverse as method of "sealing" the envelope. Very nice 1647-1947 issue item - a very collectible issue.

280 x2, 260, 261, 192 [1947 10 øre Postal Service; 1943/1945 5 and 10 øre "London" issue; 1940 10 øre Lion] (VF) on 4 March 1947 cover from "OSLO Br." to the U.S., canceled with the 300th Anniversary of the Postal Service machine cancellation (goes with the #280 stamps of the same purpose). Airmail envelope, but air crossed out and marked "5 gr" so could be specially sent at the surface rate (overpaid, but franked less than the air rate) but carried as airmail on a space-available basis. Unusual combination of the Postal Service and London Issue stamps.

276, 280 [1946 1.5 kr King Haakon and 1947 10 øre Postal Service] (VF) on 25 July 1947 airmail cover to the U.S. with VF strikes of the special 2-ring cancellation "VERDENSKONF. FOR KRISTEN UNGDOM - OSLO" (World Conference of Christian Youth). The 1.5 kr stamp is scarce on envelopes. Including this example, I can only recall having two covers with this postmark in the last 45 years, both non-philatelic to the same person. Important item for religion thematic.

Scott #277 x3, 286, 197A [1946 2 kr King Haakon; 1947 50 øre Postal Service; 1946 25 øre orange Lion] (VF, some with wear typical for parcel cards) on 4 May 1948 parcel tag specially printed for mail to the U.S. For one 3 kg parcel, from "KRISTIANSAND S. / PP" with parcel post cancellation, to Buffalo, NY, USA (no receiving markings, but none are expected in this era). Complete tag (often the left end is missing) in very good condition for these. Parcels sent within / between the Scandinavian / Nordic countries and Europe were "controlled" by a parcel card (which bore the stamps and which also acted as signed proof of delivery that was kept by the post office) that usually accompanied, but was not attached to, the package. However because the American parcel post system was completely different, parcel tags like these were designed to be attached to the package. The high denominations of the King Haakon stamps were mostly used on parcel cards and tags.
