Scott #810 [1982 2.00 kr Sigrid Undset] (VF) solo use on tourist picture post card (Nordkapp cliff with ship below, from land) to Sweden, with Superb NORDKAPP (with post code, without inner ring at top) 20 June 1983 pictorial MACHINE cancellation. Multiple types of this Nordkapp postmark exist; compare carefully. With very unusual (I have not seen this before in 52 years) violet date/time stamped oct-box pictorial stamped cachet with text "GREETINGS FROM / NORTH CAPE / ...". Correct 2.00 kr franking for Nordic post card rate (1 March 1983 - 30 Sep 1984, when postal rates were restructured). Even though Sweden is right next door, Nordkapp covers and cards to Sweden are remarkably unusual; I was lucky to obtain a small group from a collection built in Sweden. ACTUAL item. |

Correct 2.50 kr franking for Norden A-Post rate (1 Oct 1984 - 28 Feb 1987; a specific post card rate ceased to exist as of 1 Oct 1984). Even though Sweden is right next door, Nordkapp covers and cards to Sweden are remarkably unusual; I was lucky to obtain a small group from a collection built in Sweden. Scott #940 [1989 3.00 kr Norden (Setesdal Female Traditional Clothing)] (VF) solo use on tourist picture post card (polar bear), to Sweden, with VF NORDKAPP (with post code, without inner ring at top) 11 July 1989 pictorial MACHINE cancellation. Multiple types of this Nordkapp postmark exist; compare carefully. This card has a very unusual dated "cachet" handstamp, presumably applied by the visitor shop at Nordkapp, dated the day before the card was mailed. Notice that the stamp was applied on top of the handstamp. This is the only example of this style of handstamp that I have recording seeing in 52 years. Correct 3.00 kr franking for Norden A-Post rate (1 Mar 1989 - 28 Feb 1990; a specific post card rate ceased to exist as of 1 Oct 1984). Even though Sweden is right next door, Nordkapp covers and cards to Sweden are remarkably unusual; I was lucky to obtain a small group from a collection built in Sweden. This stamp is hard to find on cover and is quite sought after by topical collectors of the Norden joint issues. Furthermore, this rate postage rate only existed for one year, with the use of this stamp (issued 20 April 1989) only possible for this rate for about 10.5 months. ACTUAL item. |
