Lx1, Facit #6a1 [1856 1 skilling Black Local] Used Fine with Superb starburst postmark. Typical centering for the issue, but with nicer than usual perforations (which are normally irregular prior to 1858). Beautifully postmarked example with very nice impression. A hansome example without any defects (due to the very thin paper, most examples are defective). Facit 2014 SEK 7500 = $1200 for typical example. ACTUAL item. |

LX2, Facit #13a [1862 non-denominated (3 öre) olive brown "Local"] Used Fine+ with neat, light Stockholm local delivery (which was the primary purpose of this stamp) cancellation. This example has slightly less white paper than some, but that is typical variation of the handmade paper still in use at that time. The perforations are just slightly irregular as they should be; the so-called "1855" perforator tool was becoming worn out and was not replaced until 1865. Most examples of this stamp are either defective and/or repaired, but this example is completely sound. Especially nice with such a light cancellation. Facit 2020 value SEK 4000! ACTUAL item. |

Scott #LX2, Facit #13a [1862 Non-denominated (3 öre) olive brown "Local"] Used with Fine centering and neat, fairly well centered CALMAR town cancellation. This example stands out because it has a stronger olive color shade than most and it has a cancellation from a medium-sized city. The so-called "brown local" used the design of the original "black local", and it was mostly used for local mail in the largest cities, however, it did see use in small cities and large town. Examples with identifiable town cancellations, beyond the few largest Swedish cities are "exceptionally unusual" and sought after. The centering of this stamp is within the typical range and is actually better than many. The rough perforations are the result of the "1855" perforation tool (replaced in 1865) that, by this time, was badly worn with many bent and even missing perforating pins resulting in very irregular perforation teeth and holes. This example is an outstanding example without any missing perforations. There are a couple blind/wide perforation teeth as the result of missing perforating pins. The paper is excellent and without defects despite the handmade paper still in use at that time. Most examples of this stamp are either defective and/or repaired, but this example is completely sound. An exceptionally nice example with a CALMAR town cancellation, "rarely seen" on this stamp issue. This stamp is accompanied by a 2026 Jay Smith color image certificate with a "lifetime guarantee" (details of the guarantee are available upon request). The Facit Classic 2024 value is SEK 4000 on an ordinarily canceled example of this stamp; much, much scarcer with a small-city cancellation like this one. ACTUAL item. |
