Scott #40 [1891 2 öre Ringtype, Posthorn on Back] Used F-VF+. MÖNSTERÅS 7 November 1893 cancel, F-VF+. The 2 öre denomination was virtually only used for the local printed matter rate (or as a make-up value for other odd rates) and thus is not often found used in mid-sized and smaller towns such as this one. Scott #47 Grayish Brown on White Paper. Facit #47d [1886 (1887-1889 printings) 30 öre Ringtype with Posthorn on Reverse] Mint, Original Gum, Hinged, with Fine centering. A very fresh looking example, with centering that some people would describe as F-VF. Strong color on white paper and with "perfect" perforations, with correct original gum (hinged), and with a very crisp and detailed printing impression (probably printed with a freshly cleaned plate). This is a slightly scarcer color shade, with a Facit Classic Catalog 2024 value of SEK 2000 (approx US$200), but is priced as the least costly color shade (which is orangish brown on a distinctly yellowish paper). The Scott Catalogue 2026 value is $210. This workhorse stamp is "remarkably scarce" in Mint condition. This denomination seem to have been mostly used for postal money orders and supplies were exhausted in normal postal use. This stamp is very often missing from Swedish Mint stamp collections. Scott #48 Dark Violetish Carmine on White Paper. Facit #48e [1886 (1891 printing) 50 öre Ringtype with Posthorn on Reverse] Mint, Original Gum, Hinge Remnant, with F-VF centering. A very fresh and bright example with very intense color on white paper, excellent perforations, and correct original gum though with a modest hinge remnant (not obvious). NO defects. This is by far the darkest possible color for this stamp. This stamp is very difficult to find in Mint condition without defects and with nice centering. This stamp is very often missing from Swedish Mint stamp collections. ACTUAL item. |
