These bargain-priced stamps are attractive, but may have hidden flaws. Some have no defects at all, but the price is lower simply because of the centering. Unlike some dealers who might not pay attention to and lower the price for such situations, I describe the stamps completely and I set prices accordingly. You can save a tremendous amount of money when you add such stamps to your collection. Each stamp is one of a kind, so please let me know if I may substitute a different example (that looks as good or better, for about the same cost) if the stamp you order has sold. If you have any doubts, all these stamps can be available for viewing on approval. Regardless, you may always return stamps if you are not completely satisfied. If you are seeking any other U.S. stamps of this quality and price level, just send along your want list -- I will be happy to send bargains on approval. Scott numbers have been used unless otherwise stated.
Scott #25 Dull Red [1857 3c Washington Type I, Perf 15.5] Used with VF appearance and light PAID (in circular grid) cancellation, but with very small thin spot and very tiny margin tear. Many examples of 25 on the market are actually other types; this is a real 25; the outer frame line is visible on all four sides (on the top and bottom the outer frame line is on the perf tips as usual). Very attractive example. (Scott 2021 $180.)

Scott #36 Black [1857 12c black Washington, Plate I (outer frame lines recut), Perforation 15.5] Used with Average centering and a neat, light, partial octagonal town cancellation. Crisp, well-defined engraving. The frame lines are strong and bold as they should be for 36. A nice example of a stamp that can be quite hard to find without any defects (this example has NO defects). (Scott Specialized Catalogue 2026 $325.)

Scott #37a [1860 24c gray Washington, Perf 15.5] Used with VF appearance with usual small margins at top and bottom. Expertly-made repairs to the upper corners in the margin area; the repairs are likely very hard for most people to detect. Very fresh silvery-gray color with very crisp engraving impression. Stunning, brilliant red ovalish grid "carved" cancellation. An extremely attractive example of a stamp that can be quite hard to find. Most examples on the market are either damaged or have been repaired (often even if their descriptions sometimes do not say so!). (Scott Specialized Catalogue 2026 value $400 plus $65 for a red cancellation.)

Scott #38 [1860 30c orange Franklin, Perforation 15.5] Used with Average-Fine centering and great color, but with a faint ironed-out crease (only detectable from the back and then only with a certain viewing angle). The centering is not great, but it is fairly typical for this stamp. With a bold, extremely well-centered, and as complete as possible on a single stamp, blue BALTIM(ORE) June 28 town cancellation. A respectable example of a stamp that is extremely difficult to find in sound condition. Most examples on the market are either damaged or have been repaired (often even if their descriptions sometimes do not say so!). (Scott Specialized Catalogue 2026 value $500 plus $30 for a blue cancellation and/or $30 for a black town cancellation [blue should be higher].)
