United States: Bargains: Stamps Scott #285-299

These bargain-priced stamps are attractive, but may have hidden flaws. Some have no defects at all, but the price is lower simply because of the centering. Unlike some dealers who might not pay attention to and lower the price for such situations, I describe the stamps completely and I set prices accordingly. You can save a tremendous amount of money when you add such stamps to your collection. Each stamp is one of a kind, so please let me know if I may substitute a different example (that looks as good or better, for about the same cost) if the stamp you order has sold. If you have any doubts, all these stamps can be available for viewing on approval. Regardless, you may always return stamps if you are not completely satisfied. If you are seeking any other U.S. stamps of this quality and price level, just send along your want list -- I will be happy to send bargains on approval. Scott #288 Bright Blue [1898 5c blue (shades) Trans-Mississippi, Freemont on Mountain] Mint WITHOUT GUM, with XF centering and larger-than-usual margins. Very fresh and bright with "perfect" perforations and extremely crisp engraving impression. This wonderful early commemorative stamp design is quite hard to find with such nice appearance -- even without gum it is still a very handsome example. (The Scott 2025 value for Mint Hinged VF-80 with gum is $100. For comparison, the Scott graded value for Mint Hinged XF-90 with gum is $210!)

Scott #297 [1901 5c ultramarine and black Pan-American, Niagara Bridge] Used with VF-XF centering, intense ultramarine color, perfect perforations, and remarkably light cancellation... however, this stamp has a thin (not terrible, but it is a thin). Seldom seen so attractive! (Scott 2025 value $17 for normal quality and $35 for graded VF-XF/85 quality.)
