1962 Christmas Seal ["1962/1963" Male skier in yellow striped coat and red hat; one of 50 designs] (VF) tied by 16 November 1962 "STOCKHOLM BAN" (railway) machine postmark on cover with Scott #606 [1961 20 öre 1901 Nobel Prizes, from Booklet (in order as on the stamp: physics, literature, medicine, and chemistry] to the U.S. (mailed by an American back to his friends in the U.S.). Very neat and attractive; and quite unusual for such covers to be sent to other countries (seals were not allowed to be on the front of the covers, but it was especially discouraged to other countries). This 20 öre Nobel denomination was issued in 1961 for the domestic and Nordic post card rate (such uses are scarce) which ran through 30 June 1962. It was secondarily useful starting 1 July 1962 for a) the domestic (ending 31 December 1963) printed matter to 100 grams rate and b) the outside-Sweden (ending 30 June 1964) printed matter to 50 grams rate. This stamp is "rarely" found properly solo-used on covers. This stamp is very much sought-after on cover by more than four groups of topical/thematic collectors.
