1916 PRISONER OF WAR DOUBLE POSTAL CARD: 2 October 1916 message half only of double postal card, as typically found. LISTED BY FACIT in a section following official postal stationery; this is considered to be a form of postal stationery with a POW endorsement (see box at upper right). This card type was used 1915-1918, sent to the POW in Minsk, Russia, confirming that 16 Rubles has been transferred by Deutsche Bank from Stockholm in NEUTRAL SWEDEN to the account of the POW in Russian captivity. Has a very clear, violet Russian handstamp on the front. Examples are known with the mailing and reply half still attached, but are extremely scarce. This type does not have a control number in a lower corner; as with normal postal cards of this era, other types exist with a control number. Such postal stationery cards are seldom seen on the market; I have only been able to offer two or three other examples in the last 51 years.
