Scott #53, 54, 56a BLUE GREEN on PS Envelope Facit #FK6Ba [1892 2 and 3 öre Bicolored Numerals; 1893 5 öre blue green Engraved Oscar; 1891 10 öre postal stationery envelope 150 x 125 mm, Laid Paper //, Carmine Rose, Bluish Gray Paper] (F-VF, VF) 23 March 1894 use to Germany (Hamburg receiver on reverse) with an attractive and quite unusual combination of stamps to meet the 20 öre foreign letter rate. The envelope bears an unusual DATED hotel handstamp of the "Grand Hotel Haglund" in Göteborg, but the envelope was actually mailed on board a train and bears a "PKXP No 81D" railway cancellation. Like virtually all used examples of this tall-format envelope (which stuck up above most of the other items in a tray or bundle), there is some wear along the top of the envelope and (only) the #53 has some wear along the top. The slightly darkish appearance of the envelope is mostly NOT aging -- the paper of this envelope issue was bluish gray in color. This particular blue green color shade (of the range of possible blue green color shades, of the 5 öre stamp) is remarkably seldom offered on any type of cover or card. But, when it is seen on cover or card, 95% of the time it is on a post card, not an envelope. Examples of this color on covers to other countries is quite unusual. Collectors of the Bicolored Numeral stamps (also called the "beer bottle label stamps" due to their design) will also appreciate this unusual combination of stamps and colors.

PLK 137 RAILWAY cancellations. Express label #3:1 per Facit Postal listing. Trimmed at top, but indicates sender was in Landskrona, which matches the route of the railway line/cancel. Attractive and colorful. Express covers to other countries (especially other than Germany) are quite unusual.
