Scott #43 [1886 5 öre Ringtype With Posthorn on Back] (Superb) on very attractive 23 January 1887 post card with a faint "(PKX)P No 39 B" RAILWAY cancellation, to Borås. The stamp correctly pays the domestic post card rate. The post card is a "formular" style. The appearance of the address side is virtually identical to the officially issued postal stationery cards of the era, except that there is no printed postage indicia. Collecting the various designs / types of the early Swedish formular post cards is a challenging, though fascinating and rewarding, endeavor. There are many variations of the address-side designs; some of them quite remarkable in appearance. They make a beautiful mini collection. (I would be happy to assist with such a project.) This stamp was mostly used for the 5 öre local letter rate; examples used for the 5 öre post card rate are scarcer. ACTUAL item. |

PLK 137 RAILWAY cancellations. Express label #3:1 per Facit Postal listing. Trimmed at top, but indicates sender was in Landskrona, which matches the route of the railway line/cancel. Attractive and colorful. Express covers to other countries (especially other than Germany) are quite unusual. ACTUAL item. |

Scott #215 [1924 15 öre UPU Anniversary] (Superb) on a 12 October 1924 cover with RAILWAY CANCELLATION, "PLK 267..." to Stockholm with "STOCKHOLM 6 / TUR / 1 / VA" (machine text repeating receiving postmark on reverse). The envelope is an official mail envelope from a hospital in Uppsala, but the "Tj.- Brev" notation in the lower left corner has been marked out, thus the envelope was personally used. (The "103" written in that spot may be the hospital room number of the sender.) The 15 öre franking correctly pays the domestic letter rate [1 Oct 1922 thru 31 Mar 1942]. Despite the modest catalog value of this UPU Anniversary stamp on cover, any type of cover bearing any stamps of this set are at least "unusual". This is a particularly attractive example.
